Individuals who go out of thier way to anger a complete stranger are miserable. So miserable they have to take it out on others. (Misery loves company). When I'm feeling THAT angry....about anything, I found that good, vigorous excersise helps calm me down ALOT.
But as the assult of rudeness is underway.....the best thing to do is to just walk away. Ignore them. They want you to retaliate. Don't give the miserable screwball the satisfaction. Violence will only make the situation worse.
And if this was a verbal attack, just remember.....In order for someones words to hurt you, you must first place some sort of value on ANYTHING they have to say at all.

I ran into a situation like this the other day and I was so shocked I couldn't do anything at first. When I composed myself the lady had left the store. I had never had a complete stranger do anything like that.
I think the best thing you can do is shake your head like you feel sorry for them and walk away. These particular kind of people have bigger problems then we can imagine. We can just dream of knocking them out! LOL

Totally ignore them. I know sometimes that is hard but your reaction is exactly what those people want. Just keep walking, don't respond, and don't even make eye contact. Sometimes though if they are making fun of you or something it's best to just laugh and keep going but not an obnoxious laugh or a sarcastic laugh just a laugh like OMG that's so true. They will be stunned that you agree with them and before they can realize what happened you will be gone.

I usually ignore them. But there has been a time or two that I got in their faces and had to be held back. I used to work in customer service. I know the customer is always right, but that doesn't give them a pass to be down right nasty to me. I have invited a couple of customers outside, I never got to go through with it, but I was ready to punch some people in their faces. The best thing to do is ignore them. Don't let them know it bothers you, because usually that is what they are aiming for.

Simple.......just smile like you know something wonderfully horrid about them and turn around and walk away without even looking back at them. It works and really ticks them off without you doing anything nasty. If you think about it, try and feel sorry for the dumb idiots that tried to get a response out of you and couldn't.

There is a difference between rude and just plain ignorant, but then again they could be both. Ask yourself if their intentions were to hurt you. If they were, then walk away, they want attention and a reaction from you and the best way to piss them off is to not react.

I'm a stewardess and I deal with this nastiness on a daily basis! What p*sses them off most - and this is why I do it - I simply smile and walk away! I'm ALWAYS ready to retaliate physically, but I love my job, so I don't!! (I'll wait 'til the day I'm SURE I want to quit!)
Although your insult sounds pretty bad, that's what I do! They really burn when you don't respond!! ha ha!!

Remain calm at all costs. You can insult them in any way you like, but it will be all the more insulting if you do it in a calm voice, with a hint of a smile. Do not let them see your anger.

Well, usually it's about my piercings or general "ungodly" look :)
Usually I'm nice to them, as nice as I can be. Most times they get angry and leave--they're just looking to make me mad, and if I'm nice they can't accomplish that and it makes them mad instead.
But when they start telling me that I'm going to Hell or something similar, I just look at them, smile, and tell them I'll light a candle for them on my altar. That shuts anybody up pretty fast :)

You should move down south, where good manners, hospitality, and chilvalry still abound...no doubt you were up north when this happened. If people are that rude down here, without any provocation, its only a matter of time before someone kicks their ***......
