My Chiuaua had a leakage around that area and it looks like clear mucous. She is pregnant and is expected to give birth next weekend (Sunday) not today. Is this a sign of labour? What should I do????

Go see a doctor or go to a clinic. The discharge could be normal. Unfortunately with cycles, they can change frequently. Sometimes you can worry yourself into a false pregnancy where your mind tricks your body to thinking it is pregnant where in fact it isn't, which can also delay periods and make you feel ill. Being that you are bleeding at all is a good sign. You should be able to take a pregnancy test at home and get good results. You can get pregnant at any time of the month, even while on your period. I would suggest getting on birth control and using condoms to prevent any STD. It is a scary thought. If you are bleeding, wait it out and see if you stop. Otherwise, do a home test. It may set your mind at ease or, hopefully not, make you realize you may be pregnant. Finish school and go to college. Protect yourself and your future. Good luck sweetie.

Dogs can go into labor early just like humans do... And someone already stated keep a close eye on her, the small dogs like that are known for labor problems, and normally get c-sections.. Sometimes the pups inside are to big for normal birth and can get stuck in the canal..... Definitely call your vet, let them no you think she maybe in labor, or if they are not open call a emergency clinic, and ask them for idea's... Just be prepared and don't let her stay in labor for to long, so you can avoid losing the puppies and maybe her...

this can be a sign of labor. but it can also be a few days away. teh best way to be sure is take her temperature, a normal temp is 101 but within 24 hours before delivery the temp will drop to about 98-99.
Dogs are like people and can have them a little early.
good luck and if you have any other questions you can email me at kathy_decaprio@yahoo.com

A lot of females getting ready to whelp will display a certain amount of mucus before giving birth... Not neccesarily always normal, but my advice will be....trust your gut feeling and get her checked...or at least make a phone call to your vet and see what he/she says. Hopefully they know your pet and will advise you on the best thing to do. Good luck and take care.....much love to Mama and her babie(s).

sounds like she is getting ready..it doesn;t mean that it will happen today...but within the next few days to a week look for other signs such as nesting and panting i wouldn't worry to much unless she is in labor and can't birth a pup. dogs aren't like people they rarely require help from people....just an observing eye....good luck

They can have a discharge a few days before pups are born so she is probably still a few days away. They can have pups as early as 58 fdays and be okay. Good luck with your chihuahua family. Aren't they the best??!!

Call your vet. Chi's are notorious for requiring special care during labor such as cesarian sections. You need to contact your vet asap incae emergency surgery is required.

At least talk to your vet. He knows your dog and will give you the best advice.
