Broken camera, or old tape?

Question

We were using a snall DV camera with a small DV tape and it was dropped. Since then, every time we playback the tape there are blue horizontal lines. HELP?????

off hand it sounds as if one of the DV heads was damaged in the drop. The video picture recorded on DV is segmented, that is the video heads make multiple passes over the tape for each frame. the loss of one head creates the horizontal bands.
