I was never scared by children's shows as a kid but I saw some pretty scarry horrow movies when I was in the 4th - 6th grades because my dad worked in the evenings at the on base theatre as the manager. We got in to see shows for free. We would go to Friday Fright Night every Friday night. It started at 9 pm and went through 1 am. They would show two movies that were scarry. The attendants dressed the part too. Of course, I was too young then to remember who starred in most of them and since then I have tried to find some of them on video and can't either. I can't even find them on a web search for oldie movies. The two I remember the most though I have found the movies to and they are quite regulars on AMC and TCM. They both starred Vincent Price who happens to be a favorite actor of mine. The movies were "The Pit and the Pendulum" and "House of Wax". I also remember watching 'The Twilight Zone' and 'Outer Limits' as a family as a kid too and some of those were pretty scarry then. Now when I watch some of those on the classic stations I just laugh at how corney they are. After I got pregnant for my oldest daughter, my husband and I went to see a horror movie. I was 8 months along then. We went to see "Lets Scare Jessica To Death." It was so scarry that I couldn't finish it and we had to leave before it was half way over. I was so scared after that movie that I thought someone was trying to get me and I couldn't even take a shower unless I first had my husband search the bathroom and the house and then lock all the doors first. My OB doctor says pregnancy can really screw up the mind sometimes. Once my baby was born, I was perfectly fine and I've watched that movie several times since then and even have it on tape. I can't for the life of me figure out why it effected me so bad. It's sort of scarry but nowadays there are a lot more scarrier ones out there.

Dr. Who - he did (Patrick Troughton?) (scare me most that is - he was old, ugly and posh!) - *I* was *never* afraid of the Daleks - boys were more afraid of them (that is a *fact* - explain that if you will!)

Edit - I'm talking about the U.K. here in the 60s but we got a lot of other stuff too so I *might* be able to connect (ha ha).

EDit 2 - and anyway I can't be the only one staying up late tonight/this morning so other Brits may come on - when you get to be 50 and it's the school holidays you can stay up as late as you want!

The King and Queen puppets from Mister Roger's Neighborhood always creeped me out. In retrospect, though, they've got nothing on the Teletubbies. Those things are scary as hell.
