i hear lots of horror stories too, but i had a GREAT experience. there were some rude brides when i was there. the ladies must have brough over 20 dresses and she was like THIS IS NOT WHAT I WANT! they tried to tell her they did not have exactly what she had in mind and were trying to help find something that was similar to it, but she was pitching a fit. :P also she did not have an appointment (neither did i but i bought the first dress i tried on, i was just coming back that day to get the bridesmaids dressed) and was spending A LOT of time yelling. the MOB was laying in a chair almost asleep. :P lots of drama.
i ordered my dresses there and there was no problem (well, one bridesmaid was not there and told me what size to order and it did not fit, not their fault). i bought a bridesmaid dress for HER wedding and everything went fine.
i think it is just like any other store you go to, some days they have great people working there who care about their job, then there are those who just work enough to get a pay check.

I don't have a horror story from Davids! I will say that the Davids that I bought my Dress from and my MOH dress from was a little rude. I said all along that the color we wanted was Wine. after looking at 10 different dresses we found the one we wanted for the bridal party. Well we go up to pay and they don't have that dress in Wine. I was not happy and had to chose a color so we went with apple instead. The Davids closer to my house has been great. I was there yesterday to order my last bridesmaids dress. They have been so helpful and caring. I was there today to get alterations on my dress. I would recommend them for the you're girls too. Remember they get a discount if they go there. All the money they can save is great. Good Luck and Congrats on the Big Day

I don't recommend David's Bridal at all. My sister went there for her bridesmaid dress. I told her I didn't care what dress she got as long as it was navy. When she got there, they didn't have any navy dresses but told her their marine dresses were the same color as navy. I looked it up on-line and their marine dresses are too greenish to really be navy. I was upset about that, but didn't say anything since my sister had just spent over $200 there for a dress and shoes and was told it was non-refundable. I figured I could live with it. Then, today, she called to tell me that her dress had arrived, but didn't fit her. (Since they didn't have her size, they had her try on a similar style dress and assured her it would be exactly the same thing.) Now they are charging her a whooping $115 to altar the dress and make it fit her! Also, my friend had been upset at David's Bridal before because she made an appointment to try on dresses and when she got there, they wouldn't even acknowledge her appointment. My mom and I stopped by without an appointment, and they told us it would be several hours of waiting before anybody got around to us. Plus, I know at least one of the wedding books I bought which ranked wedding supply stores gave David's Bridal really low remarks, and I have seen other message boards where people spoke about having bad experiences with them. Some discount stores still offer good quality service. David's Bridal is definitely not one of them.

I bought my dress there but I didn't have it altered there. The sales woman was wonderful though. While I was in there buying the dress, brides were complaining about alterations. My friend got hers altered by a different David's bridal location and they ruined her dress. She is short - 5 feet tall and they had to take up the dress. Instead of taking it up from the waist, they just cut off the bottom and cut all of the detail off of her dress. Her bustle broke, and so did the hand strap by the end of the night. It was terrible. I have heard of bridesmaids with horror stories too, and these are at all different locations in different states even. Do yourself a favor and find a seamstress. I got mine altered at a bridal shop that my mom and my mother in law got their dresses at. I also bought all the accessories there too.
Oh, and my dress arrived in less than a month. Not necessarily a bad thing, just something to consider.

I didn't purchase my dress from David's but I went there to try a few on. My sister was getting married at about the same time, so we went together and we were treated great. My complaint was that it was during their $99 sale and let's just say I can see why the dresses were only $99. They were yellow, and I didn't like the styles. They did treat my friend a little rude, but that's another story in itself, and looking back now, I can see that it was something from both sides that caused it. Anyway, I would imagine it's like all stores--some people will have bad experiences and some will have great ones. It probably depends on the salesperson and the manager. I wouldn't blame it on the entire chain. I'm sure they don't train their people to be rude!

I've bought two bridesmaid dresses from there for two wedding i was in. I myself am getting married next year and would NEVER order anything from there EVER. They were soooooo slow and no one knew anything. I waited to get measured for at least an hour with the dress on! They charge LIKE CRAZY to get any kind of alterations done and they are NOT that precise either. They tell you a dress will be in a certain day and its either late, like the first dress i got from there or way tooo early like the second bridesmaid dress I got there. Their wedding dresses are mostly this terrible rough satin and organza....I would definitely pay little more or consider a consignment shop if you don't have the money for a dress. DO NOT buy from David's.

I hate David's Bridal. I was eight months pregnant and I was with my bridesmaid so they can try on and pick out a dress. They assigned us a consultant. She was never around it was like she ignored us on purpose she had another client that she was paying more attention to than us. So I got feed up and asked her for her name me and bridesmaid left and I called the next day and spoke with her supervisor nothing was done. About a year after that visit they sent me an email to take a survey about mother of the bride dresses and offered me $100 so I guess they kinda paid for the bad service

I think it depends on your store and who helps you. I went to David's when I was shopping for my dress and had an associate that was wonderful, however, the next time I went in she was not there and I ended up with a very pushy "sales" girl. I did not buy my dress there because they could not accomodate the dress to my short size, and suggested chopping off half of the bottom, which would have ruined the look of the dress, but I did buy my bridesmaids dresses there. We had no problems, once we were able to work with the first gal that helped us!

I have bought several bridesmaids dresses from Davids. They absolutly suck as far as customer service, but the last 2 times I didn't even have to deal with them. What I did was have the bride order my dress a few sizes larger and then I took the dress to my own tailor to have it altered. The dresses there are reasonably priced, but i would never suggest using their alterations services. Do yourself a favor and find another tailor or seamstress for your fittings you will have a much better experience!!

I HATED THEM! I have been to several different ones, all sucked terribly, but the worst was when my consultant wouldn't let me look at the dresses, she brought me 3 that were awful, made me try them on, of course they were still nothing like I was looking for....
She forced me to wear the bra and slip thing just to try on dresses which was ridiculous and way for them to sell more, she wouldn't let my mom help me into the dresses, SHE had to be the one to do it...so I'm half naked in a cramped dressing room with a rude stranger trying on weddin dresses, when EVERY other shop Ive ever been to understood that its kind of a special thing you do with your mom!
I walked out in the awful dresses, once again, NOT liking them at all, and the sales lady was litterally huffing under her breath! Pissed because I didn't like the 3 she brought me, well duh lady, why not let me look?!
The whole time I felt like she was forcing me into stuff so she could have commision, not b/c she gave a crap if I liked anything or not, this was confirmed when I found a flower girl dress for my flower girl and she was RELENTLESS in trying to get us to buy it that day, My wedding was a year away at this time and the child was 3, so obviously going to grow in that time, so their was no way I was going to buy that dress then! I guess maybe her rent was due or something b/c it was so high pressure it was ridiculous!
Finally we "realized we had to go meet Jack in 10 minutes for lunch" (jack doesn't exist) so we could get the heck away from this crazy woman. A little later I got some email survey about my experience and unloaded on her! lol!
I also think the merchandise in general looks very mass produced and is SEVERLY overpriced for the quality. I found my dream dress at a local boutique and they offered me great service and I got a good price on a GEORGEOUS dress so it all worked out.....
