To be a profitable salesman, lie, cheat and promise the moon to your customers. If you want to be a good salesman, put yourself in their shoes and only sell what you yourself would buy.

I think it's help if the sales person actually knows what it is he's selling. Yeah, a positive attitude is essential, but if you being able to give a straight forward answer to a potential buyer's question is most helpful.
Oh, sorry, I thought you were actually asking a question about sales; not slamming one's beliefs.
