find your BMR (how many calories you burn p/day to maintain your weight if you were to sleep all day) and then either take away calories from that by eating less or exersicing more

you find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain your weight. Take 300-500cal off that number and you have created a deficit and will lose fat eating that much.
