today I was looking through my aunt's cell phone...and i never had a cell phone before ..so i was just going through things in the menu, etc.
After a while, i think i clicked "messages"...then i saw "inbox", "sent", etc.
SOO... i clicked on "sent"..and i saw, there were this person's name(Sara) and then.. i clicked on the name...and by clicking on the name...i saw the "message".

SOOO, i just want to know that by clicking "Sent" and after clicking the person's name(Sara)...
does it mean that my aunt is the one who sent the message to Sara or ...is Sara the one who sent the message to my aunt.

Please tell me...thank you.

Yes. It is legal. First and foremost: The teacher is not a law enforcement officer. The constitution does not offer direct protection against illegal searches and seizures by ANYONE except government officials. And no, teachers etc. are not government officials. Is it an actionable tort? Well, if they have posted the policy that thou should not have cell phones and you have intentionally broken that, a reasonable person might well conclude that you have no expectation of privacy in this circumstance. In fact, you probably have no privacy whatsoever in anything you bring onto campus with you, as the school has a legitimate interest in ensuring the security of all students. They probably have a right to inspect your phone to ensure you are not dealing drugs, a gangbanger, have pr0n on your phone, etc. Let's say just for a second that you could convince a judge and/or jury that it was an unwarranted invasion of your privacy. What ACTUAL damage have you suffered from it? The confiscation of your phone - when it was not allowed in the first place? Did you lose business over it, had to go to therapy over it, or experience genuine emotional distress? Please. Now, as to "THEY wouldn't want US..." well, pilgrim, many schools do indeed have the archiving and inspection capability of every email and internet site visited with campus computers. Even - perhaps especially - for faculty and staff. They have the right to know if their employees are goofing off on "company" time. Maybe they don't just grab a teacher's phone and start leafing through it.... but then again, most teachers are smart enough to turn their phones off and put them in their desks, etc. Finally, because you are a minor. Because the school told you so. You might not like those answers now. Wait 25 years and then tell me if I am wrong in stating that. Sorry, but you're out of luck. Life is so unfair, especially when you're breaking the rules. :(

Your aunt sent the message to "Sara" and you're in so much trouble for looking through your aunts cell phone. It's private like a diary. Unless you're calling someone you never touch another persons cell phone.

Well, you probably shouldnt be snooping through your aunts messages cuz thats just not cool, but the sent messages are messages that were sent FROM that phone. The inbox or recieved messages are ones that were sent TO her phone from someone else.
