I'm sure it would be entertaining for your guests and if it sparks an interest for you then by all means go for it but I do believe that weddings generally don't need a theme. Your wedding colors generally drive a theme if there is one. You'd be amazed what you can do with just the colors but please do what makes you happiest.

When done right theme weddings can be fun but still elegant. There does reach a point when it leaves wedding and enters into a kids birthday party or something but overall themes are very helpful to give brides a direction when they are planning and to keep the overall look cohesive.

What a great idea. My daughter had a fairy themed wedding and I loved it. My wedding was in a barn so it had a western flair to it. I had people wear western garb when they found out that the wedding was in a barn. Having a theme might make the wedding more comfortable for you and your beloved. It will also make it more fun for your guests, too. Sometimes it can be a little cheaper than holding a formal wedding. A great website that might help you would be FrugalBride.com. Good luck and have fun.

I personally think it's silly. The theme of a wedding is a wedding - love and marriage. Choose some colours to make it happy and pretty.

I don't understand why a wedding has to have a theme. Personally, I'm picking one or two colors to use in my wedding (i'm thinking brown and baby blue right now) and then coordinating everything to go with it.

Themes seem like you are trying too hard. Personally, I would use the location of your reception as the starting point for your decor. My reception hall is located overlooking the beach. I was thinking of using sand, candles and seashells in my centerpieces. However, the beach motif stops there. I'm just playing off of my venue in an understated way. However, I'm not theming everything else to go with the beach.

The rest of my wedding will be very traditiona and will just incorporate my blue and brown color scheme.

Honestly?

I know it's REALLY popular right now, but I don't understand it. At all. It's not a costume party, nor is it a child's birthday party. It's a wedding!

However, it's also not my celebration. If having a country/western theme wedding is how the couple chooses to celebrate their marriage, then more power to them.

I think it would be fun! If you're gonna go with one, I'd make sure you get the invites out early enough so people have time to shop, especially is it's going to be a luau..finding the right clothes may be hard depending on the season. All that matters is what you and your groom to be want, have fun!

I've only ever been to one theme wedding and that was a medieval/renaissance theme. That was fun and interesting, but it could have been done better. Just don't expect all your guests to show up in the attire for the theme you choose.

I, personally, think it is beyond silly and trivializes the wedding. It is a reflection on the importance that most people put on weddings these days which is -- huge as a party and none as a sacrament. Would you consider a "luau" themed baptism? How about a "Western style" christening for your child? However, do it tacky and trite if you want. Your prerogative.

I don't like the idea of having a theme wedding cause it draws attention from the main event, YOUR GETTING MARRIED, I personally would prefer to have a small wedding.
