And a lot of times they say "Joseph didn't have intimate relations with his other wives."

What does that prove? Aren't you skirting the original issue at hand? The Mormon church does not teach that Joseph had multiple wives, and when questioned, Mormons rationalize with the bit about 'no kids or no sex'.

First off, the title and text of your question adress two separate topics.

The title asks if Joseph had children with his other wives - the simple answer is NO (a simple $100 DNA test per supposed descendant can prove this).

The text of the question asks if Joseph had intimate relations with his plural wives. I would venture this most likely happened. I've heard other LdS claim (and I believe this) that Joseph didn't have intimate relations with any of his wives which were still married to former husbands.

It was common practice during the early generations of the Church to "seal" oneself to people of great importance in the Church (most notably the Prophet and Apostles).

Because it is something they are ashamed of. I think it's sad really that they claim to believe in the fullness of the gospel the same that Joseph Smith believed in and yet they want nothing to do with plural marriage. And yes Joseph Smith had many wives and had many children with them. Emma was not the only one. Same as Brigham young. His other wives suffered as much if not more then Emma did. It's pretty sad that those women are so easily forgotten. They claim to love their religion then they should really get to know what the heck they are talking about.

Everyone knows that Joseph Smith had multiple wives; what is in dispute is, were any of these wives in name only, or sealed but not actually married, etc.

That seems like a contradiction doesn't it? They always say the other wives were because men were called by God to spread their seed and multiply "good people" (ie. Mormons) on Earth.

I think its probably because the stigma the church has with all those Fundies in Utah.

Still it IS a cop out...but they ARE a cult, so....

Well, I don't say that. I've read a few doozies... concerning JS.

But, for me, it all comes down to this: I received a witness of the Spirit that JS really was a prophet of God. I don't need to rationalise what he did (and frankly, it's a bit hard to do so, when you look at the various historical accounts).

I accept that he was a prophet of God, because the Spirit tells me so.

Most religions have a great deal of myth injected into them through time.

authorized spokesmen of the LDS affirm Joseph Smith only had 1 wife. any member can jump up and say anything, but that does not make it docterine.
