No, you need other nutrients. If you going to be dieting I would suggest to take a daily multi-vitamin. I would also suggest eating maybe tuna or some other fish for protein.

you need balance not deprivation.

Eating a salad gives you some benefits but then you lose proteins and that's not good.

Calories and more importantly where you are getting them from are what you should watch out for. You don't have carry a calculator with you everywhere but at last try to be concious of it.

It's a simple equation, if you burn more caories than you consume then you will lose weight.

Go to the gym, I know it's hard or boring unless you got music but you can go to a website with an activity calorie counter (look it up on Yahoo) and calculate how much you burn doing several activities..

Don't stress it too much b/c stress actually makes you fatter.

Drink at least 2 liters of water a day before 6pm, it will help you lose a lot of wate weight and it's just plain good for you.

ALWAYS EAT BREAKFAST, people who eat a healthy breakfat lose more weight then people who skip it and that's a fact you can take to the bank.

Get at least 6-8 hours of sleep, studies show that people with bad leepng habits put on weight more then a well rested person/

A lot of websites and people will try to teach you little hints and pills to lose weight but the truth is that the doctors are correct: all you really need is a balanced diet, exercise, good sleep and motivation.

do it for your future.

I went from a size 20 to a size 8 4 years ago and have kept the weight off through watching what I eat and riding a bike daily. Salads are a very good thing to eat while dieting. But you need protein too. I would put real grated cheese and chicken or turkey on mine, to satisfy me, and I preferred a small amount of "Real Dressing" opposed to those diet ones. You need carbs too, a few croutons or crackers won't hurt. But you cannot just eat only salads because you will become bored with it. I ate satisfying things like boiled eggs or cottage cheese and fruit too. You need 3 or 4 meals of 300-400 calories at least. Those Lean Cuisine frozen dinners are good and a lot of the Chunky Campbells soups are low in calories too. Good luck!

no, first of all if you're using regular salad dressing you will not lose any weight cause that stuff is loaded with calories. Salads are a good choice when you are out to eat and there are no other healthy items on the menu, but otherwise you should eat lean proteins and complex carbs. Lean proteins fill you up and give your body the nutrition it needs. Some good examples are turkey and fish products.

Complex carbs expend calories in your body as they are being absorbed, so whole wheat products are also favorable.
Vegetables are a good side for any meal or snack, but be careful what you eat them with, because as I said dressings are very fattening.

You should consult a nutritionist before you start any drastic changes in your diet, especially because you may not be done growing yet at 15 years old. But my advice is, make sure you are getting in all of the major food groups because if you go on a "salad only" diet you will gain the weight right back when you start eating other foods again. If you eat healthy normal foods when you are hungry and exercise, the weight shouldn't be hard to lose.
Good luck!

add protein such as chicken, steak, tuna , a fruit as dessert ,skim milk and take a 30 minute stroll after eating dinner. Never go below 1200 calories in a day. Sugary drinks are a no no , even diet drink have loads of sodium in them . My friend lost 80 lbs using this technique. It took 8 months at 10 lbs a month. Roughly 2 to 3 lbs a week. She has kept it off following a modified meal plan.

Well having a salad is a most excellent idea, but in my opinion I would eat something else too w/the diet. Maybe some smoked Salmon or maybe Talapia (spelled wrong) would be a good idea for ya I think. I wouldn't recommend Tofu unless you like eating a sponge. Some steamed rice would be a nice addition w/the Salmon.

It all depends on what you put on the salad, if there is cheese, egg, croutons, bacon bits, and lots of fatty dressing, you may as well have a big mac. Also, if all you eat is one thing all time you will get buned out and start binge eating to meet your cravings. When you start your 'diet', just remember portion control. Cut what you eat down to smaller portions and get a good 20 minute cardio work out at least 3 times a week.

no.

you need a balanced diet.
iceberg lettuce has no nutrition. dark leafies do,.
where is the protein and vitamins ?
salad dressing is a bad "food"
watch fat ,refined foods,

learn how to eat healthy
get all your fiber and a/c/e from fruits and veggies every day
get rid of the daily white rice, flour, pastries
dessert or junk food never more than 2x per week.
and exercise more if you eat too much /
then
it will come off and stay off.

the secret is long term changes and balance

i have a slow hypo thyroid and am the correct weight.

not really, because the fact is, you're going to get burnt out on salads. don't ever bother with diets that cut out entire food groups, all are necessary. salads are great meals, though.
the best dietary changes you can make is monitoring what you are eating and lowering your caloric intake. what helped me was to downsize my portions and eat only what i prepare myself, so i am more aware of exactly what is going into my body. it's fun! look for healthier recipes (cooking light magazine is a great resource - recipes that call for REAL butter!) and you can enjoy food and lose weight.

You need to eat a balanced diet. Plan to lose 1-2 pounds a week. If you eat less than 1200 calories a day your body will go into the starvation mode and will conserve fat and burn muscle. As soon as you go back to eating normally, you will eat everything in sight and will gain it all back and then some. Sensible dieting and exercise are the best ways to lose weight. Sparkpeople.com has a good diet site.
