You can display it anywhere you want. But, displaying it on the outside of the door makes it easy prey for the whack-jobs out there who hate Bush, hate the war and hate the military.

The Department of Defense specifies that family members authorized to display the service star flag include the wife, husband, mother, father, stepfather, parent through adoption, foster parents who stand or stood in loco parentis, children, stepchildren, children through adoption, brothers, sisters, half brothers and half sisters of a member of the Armed Forces of the United States. The flag should be displayed in a window of the residence of person who are members of the immediate family. What color star do you have. You know there are 2 different types the Gold star means you have lost a member of your family and the blue star means your family member is serving

You can display it anywhere you want, back in the day it was displayed through the window in front of the house, so people can see it. When deciding where to put it always consider its safety, because that star represents your child, you should care for it and keep it as safe as you want them to be.

Traditionally its displayed in a front window of a house. However there is no regulation for display of the service stars.

Door or window, it doesn't matter. You and your son or daughter are the folks making the sacrifice (Almost forgot dad too). It's your star, your child, your right.
Thank you to you and your family for service to our country.

Semper Fi,
Gunny
