"All other flying creeping things, which have four feet, shall be an abomination unto you"
Name one.
ADDENDUM
Does all this tap dancing to justify a biblical misstatement really affect your brains so much?
"Flying creeping things" still have four legs, such as butterflies and many moths"
Uh, no. They still have SIX legs.
"Ahh, there are some insects today who only have four legs. All those insects mentioned in that verse have four legs and still have four legs"
Hmm. A direct contradiction to the poster who stated "Grasshoppers and locust have six legs."
Bzzzt! SIX legs.
"I don't know what you are talking about."
That's obvious.
Hint: There is a period in the original poster's passage. Read it again. Better yet, look it up in its entirety: Lev. 11: 22-23.

I think it proves that Moses, who wrote Leviticus about thirty-six hundred years ago didn't know that insects have six legs. It also suggests that Leviticus isn't exactly the literal word of God, since He would surely know that all insects have six legs.
Hey, wait a minute! I know a flying creeping thing that has four legs: bats, the flying mammal! So now I have to ask, "Which is it? Did Moses imagine insects have four legs, or was he referring to bats?"
Edit: Good grief, "kjv_gods_word," any properly educated child knows that butterflies and moths are insects and thus have six legs. Don't the true facts mean anything to you?
Second edit: I suddenly recall, a few months ago, reading about a deadly disease caused by eating fruit bats. What's notable is that the disease was transmitted via a new vector, prions. (Not a fungus, not a bacterium, not a virus, but a prion.) It was only the second instance of a prion related infectious disease yet discovered -- after Mad Cow disease and its human variant, Crutzfeld-Jacob disease. Wow, yet another example of ancient tribal wisdom having a modern basis in fact.

It could be interpreted as the Lord saying "All other flying creeping things, which have four feet, shall be an abomination unto you" as a seperate thought. They may be talking about a while different type of creeping creature.

Why does this prove evolution? "Flying creeping things" still have four legs, such as butterflies and many moths and bats. Grasshoppers and locust have six legs. They are permitted to be eaten. Fourlegged "flying creeping things" are forbidden to be eaten.

Hebrew is full of euphemisms, there are many things that don't make sense LITERALLY to our mind. A more fitting rendering might be "... that move like a man crawling on all fours..."
Why don't you go "cover your feet?"

I believe in evolution but perhaps in this situation you should consider that the region in the biblical text is not where you (presumably) live.
IE: never seen a wombat or platypus in my yard.... : )
Many believe the bible is not always literal and that one should analyze it for other significance.
No one human has all the answers, especially the one to your question.

Try reading it a few more times and see if you can uncover your error. Start with the beginning? Hint: some were edible and some were not.

Of course not. Because then the Bible would contradict itself and the Christians would be wrong.
