i take this view on this very good point if i was on a crowded bus and saw a heavily pregnant woman get on i would defo give up my seat for her, likewise if i was the manager of a supermarket and saw a heavily pregnant woman park in the mother and baby area i wouldn't say anything except to ask if she needed help with her shopping. anyway what are you doing the shopping for why aint the dad doing it!!! you should be putting your feet up getting all the rest for the big day, not being stressed at tescos. anyway all the best for the birth and for the future, and if you want a little tip put a baby seat in your car then car park wardens wont put a ticket on your windscreen because they will think you have a baby.

No you can't, but then again you can't park in the spaces without a child and that doesn't stop the selfish people who just want to be nearer the store!! When you have tried to get a child out of a car seat in one of the normal car park spaces without bashing the car next to you, you will realise how difficult it is and that is why they have these spaces. I always say something to people who park in those spaces without kids (but I would never say anything to a pregnant woman, I remember trying to get a huge belly out of a car as well!!)
I'll stop now or I'll go on all day - one of my pet hates!

People will say no as the spaces are wider to make it easier for parents to try and get their children out of the car, however parking spaces are so tight it is virtually impossible to get out of your car when you are pregnant! My daughter is 11 months now and if i saw a pregnant woman using the mother and baby spaces i wouldn't mind, what i do mind is when people park their big 4x4s there and leave their teenagers in the car listening to loud music! There is just no need for that. X

Most of the spots here where I live (the few places that have them) state for expecting moms and parents with infants. I've been using them since about 6 months pregnant when it started to get hard to walk any distance because baby moved up high and has been pushing on my lungs making it hard to breathe.
Even if it says for parents with children, well you are with a child and the bigger you get the harder it is to move around. At least once the baby is born you can put him in a stroller and push him which to me right now seems a lot easier than walking around at 39 weeks so any way I can shave distance off and make it easier on me is much appreciated.
Now if they would just put the bathrooms right beside the mall entrance instead of having to walk 2 city blocks to get to it I would truly be happy.

honestly, and answering as a parent, i would say no; technically you are parent and child, BUT they have maternity parking here, and i cant tell you how ticked off i get when i see a lazy "normal" person park in those spots when im 8 months pregnant and get stuck walking the entire way across the lot since someone else had to be too lazy and park in a spot designated for others. its the same as handicapped spots; if your not handicapped, you shouldnt park in those spots as well. it is hard to maneuver and all while pregnant, but also coming as a mom to 2, its awful hard getting 2 kids in and out of the car as well. i wish they offered those spots here!

I would say only if you are very heavily pregnant, I remember trying to squeeze out of the car when parked in some tight normal spaces, so if you are having a problem I am sure you would be ok to use these wider spaces. Good luck :)

I wouldnt. Once you have your child you would understand why. Its meant to make things easier on mothers while getting their children out of the car. You dont have to deal with those things while pregnant. Some areas having expecting mothers parking in addition to mother and child parking. We dont have any of those here.

YOU HAVE EVERY RIGHT ~ GO AHEAD AND IF THERE ARE NO SPACES IN PARENT AND CHILD YOU CAN PARK IN THE DISABLED BAYS ~ what i do't agree with is parents with 8 or 9 year olds(and older) and people with no children parking in these bays

Well I know that most of the aswers are saying technically not. But what about people in general who abuse these parking spaces just to save a walk.

no, thats like it being ok for an OAP parent and their 40 year old son being able to park in the spaces. The spaces are for mothers with young children in buggies or prams, hence the extra space at the side to allow them to get the child out of the car easily.
