I removed the safety clips on each end but it still will not come off. I note that it has a ridge on each end. Is there a special tool for this?

I agree with aaronh9. You need a special coupler type tool to release the. They usually come in sets of five, if they are the inexpensive plastic type that you buy at most auto parts stores.

When you removed the clips what color where they silver or plastic ?? If silver you will need a special tool that you can pick up at the parts place hope this helps.

it requires a special tool to release the spring clips inside the line fittings to remove the filter. You can get one at your local auto parts store.

you are messing with a highly flammable liquid here, do you really wanna mess with it, no you dont, buy the factory fuel lines and fix it right, this is a major saftey issue, the fuel is under pressure and you want it fixed right, you should have never cut the lines in the first place and now you have a problem, fix it right after all its not just your life on the line if your repair fails, others could be involved!!!!!!!
