Do you have a German Shepard?

Well what we used to do is put Vaseline on our dogs fly bitten ears. You need to do something because the flies will lay their eggs in your dogs ears, then you will have real problems. Really nasty..........if they do happen to lay eggs and your dogs ears are bleeding you will need to scrape your dogs ears with a sharp object to get the eggs out.

How about bringing your dog inside away from the flies?

Keep your yard clean, and get some Flies Off cream to help her ears heal.

get some fly spay. You can use Bronco Flyspray. It's supposed to be for horses but it will not hurt your dog. Just spray it on the top of her ears. It ranges from $3-$5 If you don't have the money to buy that then you can buy citronilla. Flies hate the smell.

There are sticky substances available at farm supply stores like SKAT that you can apply directly to the ears to stop this. It kills all the flies on contact and repels them for a few days at a time. It has pyrethrins as the active ingredient. It is used on outside dogs like hunting dogs or herding dogs. I wouldn't use it on small dogs, but they shouldn't be out anyway.

The best thing to do is actually bring the dog in and only put her out for short periods or walks with you. If it is a herding dog you can use SKAT or a spray on product to help keep it comfortable.

Contact the Vet & ask him. He will still have your records on hand or he may recall exactly cause he has known your for so long. It is very hard to loose a long time friend like that. You may grieve for some time to come. I had a Dobie that was a fully trained Police dog & we worked & lived together. Every where I went she did to. I even believe that we had a psychic connection. We knew exactly what the other was going to do under any situation. I grieved hard for two yrs. & she has always been in my heart & I tell stories about some of our adventures. Grieve as long as you need to. But, do contact the Vet & get your answer. You will fell better just knowing what it was. I am so sorry for your loss. Time & time alone is the only thing that will help. I lost my girl back in the 80's & she still brings tears to my eyes.

I would bring the dog inside, give her a good bath and clean her ears well. Keep her inside until her ears can heal. When we had our lab his ears would get tore up by flies. We would clean them good and put Bagbalm on them. It can be purchased at Walgreens. Its kinda like a medicated vaseline. The flies wont touch her ears with that stuff on it. But I would definitely keep her in until they can heal.

You might try rubbing some skin so soft on them I think it's made by Avon. It won't hurt the dog and mosquitoes hate it and flies also don't care to much for it.

Well it could be that your dogs ears are dirty. try cleaning them. if that doesn't work, than contact a vet and have him/her look at your dog's ears. It could be a problem with the ears. Also, try spraying bug spray to keep flies away.
