Church members often become angry if anyone questions their supernatural dogmas. Is this because they subconsciously sense that their beliefs are irrational?
Why are doubters attacked, stigmatized, and ostracized?
I'll bet there isn't a church member anywhere who doesn't think all the supernatural beliefs of other religions are goofy -- except for the one he believes. So they're all doubters of other religions and they may end up in the hell of another religion.

By going through a list of theologies, I think you can establish that the average Christian doubts 99 percent of the world's holy dogmas. But the 1 percent he believes is really no different than the rest. It's a system of miraculous claims, without any reliable evidence to support it.

If some magical beliefs are irrational, all may be.

And no, I do not get angry when someone questions my beliefs or lack thereof. The QUESTIONING is not what upsets me, it is the way I am TREATED and DISCRIMINATED against for simply lacking the supposedly correct religious label.

Because people FEAR what they do not know... An expression of fear is ANGER. When proposing evidence to those who discredit scientific proof, they claim one must have FAITH. Some of course become angry or irrate if further disproved or continue having intense feelings of inferiority.

For scientific proof of what goes on in the "religious mind" when confronted, follow the link below.

It's not true to say that all church affiliated people react that way when questioned about their beliefs.

But if you're running into that a lot, part of the problem might be the way you're posing your questions. Like this one, where you use loaded language like the word "supernatural" which you used twice and "irrational." Maybe your church friends are picking up on the fact that you are already on the offense about their beliefs and so jump on the defense right away.

No fruitful dialog's gonna happen that way, dude.

Also, maybe the churchy people you talked to were just immature and insecure in their faith. Not all church goers are, though.

they get angry because they know that they are hypocrites, look at the history of the church, there is so much murder and fraud connected to it then can be printed not just in our day but in the last one hundred years or so . The Pope has even went out on the battle field and blessed the soldiers , while claiming to serve God, The Church has even been linked with Hitler and his Third Riche.(EXODUS 20:13) the Bible does not say Murder when its for your country or for oil, land or when it benefits you it says dont do it, you are taking the life of another human being, one that like ourselves no matter what country or color they are was created in the image of God.. The Church also knows that a lot of the things they teach has been altered for there financial gain, because if the flock really read their bible there would be no members in the churches, Period!!!

How about we dig into some of these church matters, before we compare one church from another.

True, there are tons of religions out there. They are basically a method for man to reach some sort of "god(s)" All around the world, you find different teachings, languages, mathematics, and ideas, in which each one has branched off into thousands of ideas, in how to reach this spiritual goal. But again, they are all based upon the culture in which they origionate, so I can conclude right there that all those religious awakenings are simply made up and characterized by the culture. Studies in the brain even show that people have a deep inner feeling of some sort of "god(s)" that they feel to be submittive to. That explains a lot in the origion of flase religions.

However, I want to pick christianity out of there. Not nessessarily because I feel my religion is true, but rather that it simply does not fit in the origion of false religions. The bible was formed from manuscripts (ancient writings) that were found all around the middle east and more. It did not come from a single source, but rather many different sources, all across the land, all refering to the same God. It's astonishing that they tie up, with different authors, working apart from one another, yet writing scripture that God meant to glorify himself through. Thus, the bible was formed.

Through this, I can also conclude that christianity is not man's attempt to reach God, but rather God's attempt to reach man!

Another, almost comical observation has been discovered. What makes hinduism, buddhism, etc etc generally more interesting to learn about, and more easy to talk about than christianity? There's a seperation in there somewhere too, isn't there? If Christianity is true, than the answer is true, because along with God there are demons, who flat-out hate everyone, and wants to lead them sub-consciously onto another path.

NOW, we can finally answer your question, why do church members become angry when their beliefs are questioned? Well, that doesn't ALWAYS happen, one one of the reasons is because the questions thrown at us are by people who don't really understand what picks christianity out of the rest. Another is sometimes because they don't even learn about God before questioning him. Say you are an evolutionist and someone says "how can flight animals evolve into land animals? That's not beneficial and goes against the defenition of evolution!" Although i'm not much of an evolutionist myself, there's so much more to that, in which the persion questioning doesn't understand!!! SAME WITH GOD!!!!

Even then, anger like such is a sin, and ungodly. Yet churches still do it. It goes to show that although christians are "a new creation" sin is still bound to the world we live in.

Heres the short answers. The Bible teaches that you have to indeed have faith, repent, be baptized, confess Jesus as Lord and savior, and live a faithful life guided by the Holy Spirit. That in a nutshell is being saved. Christians who are not calvinists or baptists believe that you can give up that salvation and throw it away by virtue of your actions and what is in your heart with God judging where your true allegiance is. We dont believe Mormons are Christians because your church rejects blood atonement and doesnt truly believe that Jesus is the son of God. They also accept the Book of Mormon which is not the truth.

The average Christian, is not that far in behavior, from the average non-Christian. All that you have described belongs in the realm of all humans. You are describing how angry church members become, and in the process you are describing how angry you become. Chalk it all up to being just human - it actually has nothing to do with Christianity.

Funny you started with Church members then you soon got to Christians...when you percieve a person has know knowledge simply walk away.

If there is something magical or irrational it is in you.

The way you have been treated is not here nor there. Jesus said if they hated me they will hate you. He was persecuted are you better than he. He was ruffed up by the people of the Jewish sect. Get over it. Praise God it could have been worse. If you have knees get on them...if not lay down prostrate before God he answers prayer.

Because they give so much money to their church - they are heavily invested. And when people question whether there is a God or a heaven, the church-goer can't stand thinking that all that money went to waste. After all, they are paying for entrance into a heaven that you are saying doesn't exist. How unkind of you.

Please, ask questions. What was it you wanted to know about my faith?
Sometimes people ask questions that can have no result but frustrated answers. The people who do this often don't want answers, just the chance to see the answerers angry. If you ask an honestly curious question that seeks an honest and calm answer, you will probably get one.
