As long as you give the proper dosage, it is fine. I have a puppy who, due to unplanned events, had to fly with me at 6 weeks, and the vet recommended that I give him a quarter of a teaspoon of children's benadryl to calm his nerves and make him sleepy. He was so quiet and sleepy on the flight, but he perked right back up when I let him out for some water and exercise. If you follow the correct dosing it is ok on an occassional basis.

Could you add a little more detail as to why your dog needs Benadryl ? Dogs are perscribed this at times by a vet but you should also know the correct dosage & whether or not it is being taken for the correct reason.

Is your dog sneezing? The dosage is 1ml per pound of dog. It is not a good idea to give a dog any medication without consulting a vet first.

We gave my dog benadryl after he was stung by a bee. The vet had said it was fine. Make sure you consult your vet first though!

no, things that are OK for humans are not good for pets. Unless your vet says you should give them something, don't do it.
