I paint because I was practically born with a paintbrush in my hand - it is in my blood and I want to become better and better at it. I am passionate about art and if I can paint pictures that people will appreciate and enjoy and make money doing it, then I am doing something worthwhile, I think!

Are you talking about painting rooms, houses, pictures, etc? I enjoy painting the rooms in my house because I like making my house look good.

personally, i paint because it is in me to do so, like it is in a person who sings well to sing all of the time or to the writer who writes to tell a story. people of the arts, i believe are born to do so. we have the inherent gene from the get-go that drives us to create in some way or the other. yes, we may do other things to perhaps survive in this world, but as artist we always have the drive; the need to paint, to create or recreate what it about us... for we are visual artist...literally. we see the world as many others do not see it and so therefore it is within us, the drive to share with others as to how and what we see. art is not something you choose; it has chosen you. i have spoke to many other artist regarding this same question and we all seem to have the drive and the internal need to paint; to create and for most of us to sacrifice whatever is needed in order to do so. art for many artist is like the need to eat; some of us may be able to go on an art-free diet for awhile, but ultimately we give in and need to devour in the dessert of color and creativity.

i paint the walls to change the feel of the environment ---
i paint on canvas or whatever to create something that will make my brain and spirit feel good, and hopefully whoever else sees it will enjoy it in their brain and spirit too --- i'm not so much into pushing controversial limits and all that --- i enjoy being peaceful and calm with it --- or being challenged by the process of doing it --- and playing with colours --- and to see where the outcome ends up

I paint because I'm bored mostly. Or because I just need to get an idea out on paper or on canvas.

Let me quote my thesis for art school:
"If I don't paint I go crazy. If I do paint I go crazy too ...but I'm an artist and everybody expects me to."

You paint to cover up or simply to renovate anything that can be painted upon.
