It is possible for a cat to die from malnutrition due to a tapeworm. But this is unlikely because most owners will get their cat treated for tapeworms before it gets too serious. Just bring your cat to the vet and get treatment. Cats get tapeworms from eating fleas and eating rodents. So if you treat the tapeworms, but your cat has fleas it will just keep reinfecting itself. So it is a good idea to get your cat on flea prevention like Revolution. If you cat stays outside and eats mice often, you will want to have her checked for intestinal parasites yearly.

Tapeworms don't infect the heart. Heartworms infect the heart, they are transmitted by mosquitos, and yes, cats can get heartworms. Revolution is a great product because it prevents fleas (which helps prevent tapeworms) And it prevents heartworms.

Good Luck with your kitty, I hope this helps.

What Kills Tapeworms In Cats

If left untreated tapeworms will kill a cat. They starve the cat of necessary nutrients. When the cat eats the tapeworm takes the nutrients right out of the food in the intestines. The cat can eat all day long (and sometimes will!) and still not get nutrients.

Not really.
But it prevents the cat from receiving the nourishment it requires.
So that eventually it may die of malnutrition.
If it is allowed to grow [which it will, since the food you feed the cat, nourishes the tapeworm] it can cause death.
But if you know a cat has a tapeworm, why would you not treat it since it is a simple inexpensive treatment?

Yes they will eventually as they get all your pets vitamins and nutrients and leave your pet starving, when there are in the intestines they break off and grow another head and go on and on.Always get meds to get the pets well as they even crawl out of the butt of the host at night.I got my cats medicine the next day when i seen little white rice looking pieces in her poo; and she looked relived when she got rid of them; as they itch like mad; and will drive you and the pet complety crazy,, Do not get the grocery stor brand as they won;t work.Go to a feed store or a vets office to buy it there ' so you;ll know your baby will be well in a couple of day,,,,,,,

No, they probably won't but why would you want your cats to have worms? Get to the vet. Or order tapeworm pills from www.kvvet.com KV vet supply

Yes. One of the main places in a cat for tapeworm is the heart. It can fill the heart and it can't pump blood. This is a very serious thing and if it ever occurs, it HAS to be treated.
