Many spiritual beliefs have prophecies, but they are meaningless unless they are very clear as to what will happen, and they become true. Do you agree with this?

Yes but many prophecys were specific and they did come true. Such as how could they have know Cyrus would be the one To destroy Babylon? That the doors would be left open.
That the water would be drained out to enable the soldiers to walk right into the city. It was all fortold hundreds of years in advance. Just as the destruction of the Babylon the Great the empire of false religion that will be destroyed in our lifetime.

I believe prophecy can be used as a thinking tool. But when if it becomes true, then you have a "track record" for the one giving the prophecy. This is then good in judging what else has been said.

Yes, but the prophets predicted the coming of Jesus and His death on the cross from about five hundred to one-thousand-five-hundred years before it came to pass, so those who first heard the message never saw it come to pass. And the first prediction of the messiah was four-thousand years before Christ.

RB, as to the track record of the person telling the prophecy, none of the prophets that predicted the birth and death of Jesus were alive when it happened to get the credit. And now that we know the predictions were true, we can no longer look to that prophet to give us more prophecy.

ya but people won't believe until they actually happen.

Like i can tell you that i'm gonna become the most famous person by the time i'm 25-27 in the world, the epitomy of all that is perfect, the most successful, intelligent and creative, physically strong/sexy person to ever live as an artist/model/musician and celebrity, go on a mission around the world to spread the word of the Lord and then get killed at the age of 40, ressurrected and then I become that of God on Earth and kill off 2/3 of the world... but i mean, who would believe that? no one... doesn't mean it won't actually happen tho, ehh ;)

I think even those prophesies are only marginally meaningful. There is some level of critical thinking that goes into making accurate predictions. Gambling lines are prophesy that are accurate more often then not, they are well reasearched, educated guesses. I don't think that all those people at Harrah's on Sunday morning are there to worship, however.

Prophesies coming true is the mark of a true prophet of God. But sometimes things get in the way of them coming true like lack of faith for example.

to me it depends on the prophecy, i myself saw Jesus stand before me throwing a rope and he said wrap it twice and tug when you need me, sometimes a prophecy is a special message to remind us that he is there or to get our attention. so just remember to tug god bless

that guy John_d_ayer who answered this question, he seems very angry..... I have a prophecy that he will have a heart attack someday.

But then, I don't believe in prophecies, so maybe he won't.
