The pitbull loses due to extreme lead poisoning

That wouldn't even be a real case scenario at all. A K-9 officer is with his dog at all times. The would never let the pit kill his dog. Not only is the dog his partner and friend with the great bond that implies the dog is worth thousands of dollars in training costs. The officer would shoot and dog on the spot if it were going to attack himself, others or his dog. He would also shoot a person too if needed. Bottom line there would be guns involved. I hope you are not just looking for a sick fun answer about how the pit is a better fighter. Pit bull fighting is horrible and wrong. Evita

PS I think I read once that if you shoot a K-9 dog you can be charged with assalt on an officer. I think that it would be the same if you turned a pit bull loose on one too. So that would mean the dog was considered an officer.

With your restriction of no guns involved, that means that it's not the police. The police will always have a gun available. That being said, the pit bull would be shot. The K-9 cop is just that, a COP. While it's duty is put itself in danger's path, the human cop is also there to protect and care for the dog.
If they don't want to shoot a dog there is always pepper spray, or in a worst case scenario they could tazer the dog. But that might kill it too.
I suppose that they could thump it on the head with their batton, but once again that too would probably kill it.

First K-9 comes from canine, which simply means DOG. EVERY Police dog, regardless of breed, is a K-9. Next, I assume you are asking what would happen if the dogs were to fight. I don't know which dog would win, but if the K-9 did not kill the pit-bull, the BULLET would. Your 'NO Guns' statement will NEVER happen.

Edit for Texican: You said the K-9 is not considered and officer. The K-9 officer living next door the my parents disagrees.

While I agree that the cops would probably draw and shoot the pit bull, I strongly disagree that a K-9 should be treated legally as a cop. This is B.S. A K-9 is no more a cop than those stupid traffic light cameras I so despise.

Animals are property, and this has been upheld many times in court.

If the pitbull attacks his dog, officer has right to shoot the criminals dog. The K9 is an "officer of the law." The officer has a duty to denfend his partner.

Sorry kid but the cop pulls out his gun and shoots the pit bull. The cops make a big point of never losing a fight.

A K-9 is always with an armed officer. "No guns" would never happen.

But think about it...the K-9 is trained, very, very well.

The officer will shoot the attacking dog no matter what breed it is to protect his, and is justified in doing so.
