If people are going to say Jerry Springer, or Paris Hilton, McDonald's, NBC, Pepsi, dell, simpsons, jeans, etc as our culture, they are wrong.

I think America carries lots cultures that exist is in this world (well, the people who come here with them). But as an American culture, I'm not sure what that is.

My family's background is Cherokee, Irish, Scottish, and French. So don't generalize what culture is. They are descents. There's a difference. Some of my best friends in high school came from Asia legally. They still practiced their individual culture and didn't expect my family to assimilate it. But I was invited to one of their ceremonies. It was very enlightening and I was honored to be included. Their parents didn't speak very much English but made the effort to and paid for the privilege to come to another country. Some people on both sides need to open their minds a little bit more.

America has a culture. We definitely do. We are a young country as far as holiday customs and formal dress go so we don't have "ancient customs" but as a group, Americans share many qualities such as attitudes, values, language and other things that would make up a culture of it's very own. I don't understand what you define as culture, but every culture is different. Just because ours isn't the same as yours, doesn't mean we don't have one. Maybe you're having a hard time because we are such a melting pot.

America has a culture no its not an old one but its a good one
work hard
support your government
support your country
support your neighbor
protect those who are weaker
to name just a fraction
and it would be nice if all those who come here would do the same not forsake theirs but at least respect ours

I don't care (and neither do most people) if illegal aliens "adapt to our culture" or not...they shouldn't be here in the first place.

As far as your sentence about culture "you barely have one", what does that mean??

We have citizens and legal immigrants from over 140 countries, all of whom bring their culture with them.

By "adapting to our culture", the majority of people mean LEARN ENGLISH, as you well know, so you can communicate with the bulk of the people here. Insulting America's culture is a sidestep of the issue and is uncalled for.

BTW I am not talking about any one race here. My wife is a legal immigrant, as well as all of her family and some of mine.

You actually have a point, and I don't like agreeing with you about anything.
I will say though that we don't have one because of our sickeningly PC society doesn't allow any one to place themselves and their culture above anyone elses.
So sorry, the illegal and Pro-illegal crowd will just never fit here, you had all better leave and go somewhere you can have your beloved separate culture.

As long as they learn to speak English, do some sort of productive work, and pay their taxes, that's good enough for me. If they want to retain elements of their ancestral culture, that is more than fine.

Immigrants, future American citizens, yes! The illegals, don't bother, you won't be here long enough. You can't really identify culture if you don't have any couth!

That's the point, pinche nino vavoso. Keep your damn pinatas and sombreros and quincenaras and Cinco de Mayos and gangs and low-rider El Caminos and at least retreat to the border states ... you don't belong here ... at least not as far north as Portland, Oregon.
