I have a pretty severe phobia of being sick, but I'm going on a sailing holiday and will probably get seasick! Any tips? I don't want the phobia to rule my life...

Hiya, I have that problem sometimes, even if its just going out for dinner!! Always looking for the toilets!! I use Rescue Remedy made by Bach, and try taking deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth. Hope that helps.

Sea sickness... Um.. If it's anything similar to car sickness, you might wanna take one of those medicines that make you less sick and prevent you from throwing up....

If you feel nauseous, just take a nap until you feel better. Try not to stuff yourself with food (because that's like giving nausea a warm welcome).

If its just a phobia, and you're worried about your phobia ruling you.... Think about it this way...... What's the worst that can happen? So, you get sick, and so, you throw up..... How much can you? After you puke out everythin, nothing else will be left in your stomach.. So, you won't feel sick anymore...... And even if by some other weird coincidence, something happens and ruins your trip - hey - you can take another trip after a few weeks, right? The waves are not gonna go away, eh?

Basically - brace yourself, and be ready to accept whatever comes to you...... You'll find that your phobias just melt away when you think that way..... Think logically about what your phobias can do you to....... The way I see it - the worst that can happen to you is - you get a bout of more phobias.... But if you don't - then, hey - you'll have a blast, huh?

I dunno if you see what I mean, but basically - don't get flustered thinking something bad will happen.......... Say the trip goes really well..... (which I am sure it will).... then, you'll end up regretting the way you freaked out before the trip, right?

What say you?

It is different for everyone. And many people get next to none. Some never feel sick, some just get nausea and no vomiting and some throw up frequently. And it can range form one day, to all nine months. You just don't know how you will respond until you get pregnant. My sister as four children. I think she threw up a grand total of 4 times with her first three pregnancies. Her last pregnancy was a bit worse but not that bad. Then here I am and I threw up at least three times a day every day in for the first 20 weeks. And then about 3 or 4 times a week until I delivered. And I felt varying degrees nausea almost 24/7 for that entire pregnancy. Not fun. But honestly I did get used to it. It became my norm. So you might get luck and have nothing to worry about or you might not. It is just a roll of the dice so to speak.
