Ebay is a great place to look for orginal artwork and you can specify your price range and that you wish for contemporary work. It's a good investment :)

Please don't buy paintings from the Internet. You need to be with the painting and see if it works for you before lashing out your hard earned. Go to exhibitions, auctions and local art sales and be where you can to compare stuff. But wherever you choose to buy you will find that once you are hooked you will run out of wall space so quickly that you will hang them from the ceilings as several of my friends have to

Don't go to a website, go to your local art college and see the degree shows, and buy something there. And be prepared to pay about £400, because you will probably see more than one thing you like.
My tip: Only buy what you love. After all, you're the one who has to live with it!
