As previous answer - check out the Renaisance in Times Square- see www.tripadvisor.com for prices, deals, reviews etc. Got a good deal on the hotel as it is part of the Marriott group and I have a points card.

Was worried as fist time in NY and wanted it to be just right... and it was!

Stayed there and it was a brilliant location right on Times Square in the middle of all the action. My first time in NY and thought the location was fab. Great restaurants and bars all round - try Max's (may be Maxims?) it is sort of oppostie the hotel. Great restauarant / bar - but you won't want to eat the next day the portions are so big!!

The hotel is quiet and relaxing when inside and the staff and especially the concierege are really helpfull. They will tell you the best way to get to all the "must see" places. They got us theatre tickets that no one else could!

One thing we really enjoyed was using the water taxis to get up and down as an alternative to cabs or buses - cheap, regular but most of all such a great view of manhattan from the Hudson!

Can't wait to go back and would definately chose this hotel again. Oh yes, apparantly it is THE hotel to choose for New Years as you can see the big ball drop into Times Square from the hotel!

Hope you have a great trip and I'm sure will choose the right hotel for your needs..... check out tripadvisor for other hotel suggestions. I always use it for any travel to research and check before I book and have never been disapointed with my researched descisions.

You MUST first give a price range. Good Hotels are easy to come by. Do you have around 300 per night?

I would recommend the Giraffe. It is a fabulously cosy and cute hotel which is small, modern and intimate. I loved it and would def go back there. Not cheap though....
