I am going in one week! I don't know how to conquer my fear. I am only 13 but this isn't my first time on a plane alone

The last time I went was quite a long time ago but I had to go because my sister went up with me and she had to stay at the place we went because she found a job.

I had to go back but this time I am going because I want to. The time said I was going to go was about 2 months ago and the closer it gets the more worried I get.

I feel I might puke on the plane when we take off. The reason for this is because the flight is at my dinner time. I will be so hungry and my stomach will feel like it has butterflyes in it and that will make me feel sick.

I know they have barf bags but I would rather not use it.
If you can help me please answer these three questions.

#1: How can I feel less scared about flying alone?

#2: How can I not feel sick on the plane and maybe puke?

#3: If I bring my stuffed animal to calm me down will I look like a baby?

Thanks so much!

Emily

1. You need to occupy your mind with something besides the flying itself. Try people watching instead. Look at the other passengers and make up stories in your head about why they're flying or who they're going to meet. It sounds dumb I know but it will take your mind off the flight.

2. Drink a 7-up or Sprite and eat some saltine crackers before you board the plane. For some reason that always helps to settle a queasy stomach. Also, take some Dramamine or other type of motion sickness pill to help with any on board puking desire.

3. No one will care that you have a stuffed animal. Trust me, all those other people will be way more concerned with not puking themselves, or whether they'll get there in time. Besides, you'll never see them again, so who cares what they think?

There is nothing special about flying alone, you sit in your seat and the plane does the rest. Since you have nothing to do, close your eyes, relax, and let the body feel the airplane. Breathe normally, but do not try to smell . With your ears, hear the noise, but do not listen to it. The rest of your body, feel the airplane's movement. You will be surprised at what you can detect just by sitting there. When the plane is on the ground, you can feel the people walking by, when moving to the runway, you can feel every turn, every bump on the ground. The best part is in the air, the motion of the plane is like a feather floating in the sky. With this feeling, I normally fall asleep and not wake up until snack/meal time. Sometimes I skip them all. Once, I did not even know when the plane took off and landed. For your stuffed animal, get a huggable one, those are the best. Try this before your flight, when you are in a car, bus, or subway. If on a bus or subway, make sure you don't miss your stop. I've missed my bus stop once, never my subway stop though. Then no fears, not puking, just a nice plane ride to a great vacation. 8-)

Don't worry about it it is not scary but here is the answers

#1: Don't sleep the night before so you can sleep on the plane the hole way there and you won't worry because you will be sleeping

#2: Eat some food at the airport normally there is a McDonald's or fast food place around right before you leave or buy it right before and eat it on the plane. The food will be hot and you won't not be hungry!

#3: If your stuffed animal makes you fell better just put it in a bag and when you get on the plane take it out. Only the people walking bye and the people that are next to you will see it. And if a cute boy walks bye put it behind you and smile at him

LOL

Have a great trip!

Just do what you have to do to calm yourself down. If that means bringing your stuffed animal so be it. Don't be scared about flying alone though because you aren't alone. Try to take a nap on the plane, it will make the time go by faster. Or if you can't sleep read a book or watch a movie, anything to just keep your mind off of your main fear, flying. Taking off id always scary, but you will be ok. And if you puke, you can feel better knowing you aren't the first one to ever puke on a plane. If you were there probably wouldn't be barf bags on the plane already. :>)

I am 18 and always have a stuffed animal on the plane -- not because I need it, but I love taking pictures of them posing in front of the window. =) I recommend having a little snack before you go, ordering some sprite if you feel sick and having a good distraction like a book or music. Chew gum when you take off -- it helps that nasty ear popping. Talk to other passengers. Read the new Harry Potter book. It will be over before you know it.

1. Relax. Tel the stewardess you are flying alone, and that you are nervous about it, and you'd like her to keep an eye on you. She will be very good, it's haappened to me, I got extra bags of peanuts and all.
2. Make sure you have eaten something light but not very watery before the flight, e.g. a toastie, or a small sandwich, or some rice or pasta. There is no reason to puke. Even if it has happened before, it doesn't mean it will happen every time.
3. No problem with the stuffed animal!
