I came across and old flame (online) after 10+ years. If a guy was only saying hello to be polite and had no interest in maybe going out one night to catch up then there is noway he'd give his ex his cell #....am I right? I think it would have been more like saying hello and see what the person's been up to and leave it like that..... if a guy has no interest in seeing the person again (even as friends) he would not give the person his cell #. Tell me if I am wrong.... should I hold out hope of seeing him again?

I wouldn't say that you shouldn't hold out hope of getting back together, but I think you are blowing the fact that he gave you his number way out of proportion.
He gave you his number, you guys know each other, he probably considers you friends, nothing mroe nothing less.
