Once contracted, the (at first) seemingly innocuous obsession with Y!A quickly becomes a permanent addiction whose symptoms only get worse as the daily points grow and accumulate....unfortunately at this time there is no known cure on the horizon.

The American Journal of Addiction reports cases of Y!AA (Yahoo! Answers Addiction) whereby certain case studies have eventually forsaken job, family and friends in order to feed into their habit, with the only positive affect to be noted being the on-going, seemingly unstoppable, steady growth of points, levels and the unsuspecting, but always present, Thumbs-up (or, it's Evil Twin, the Thumbs-down) which can appear at any time during a Q&A session and only serves to feed into the patient's psychological dependency on Y!A.

Set a time budget for your activities on the site. Use your answer time as a reward for completing other tasks. I do also agree that with exposure many of us spend less time on the site. This is true in my case.

It'll eventually get old, and you'll find something else to be addicted to. Not a big deal.
