Is our media 'objective?'
Do they have a political agenda?
How do you know what is *really* going on?
Why do the headlines not read "US Military losses at lowest level in a year"?
I examine these along with the method a KGB defector used to read Pravda during the Cold War.

No politics. Just the groundtruth from a combat veteran that has been to both Fronts in the War on Terror, backed up by independent research and a study of history.

BarB: I hate to tell you, but the media is far from supportive of Bush, the mission or our troops.
There is A LOT of positive news, even if there is the minority of negative news does get reported. I've seen it and I've seen the reports afterwards, or lack thereof.
The media is NOT controlled, though the people should hold them accountable for their misrepresentations.

Our current media, internet, radio, television is not objective. The one reporting will ALWAYS have some bias in what they find regardless of who they are and if they claim otherwise.
I listen to those who come from first hand experience, but even then since they're only seeing "parts" of the war I can only form opinions.

The media is not objective. The reporting is swayed by public opinion and what the "popular" belief is. Look back to when we first went to Iraq at the level of public support for the war was. As you come current and the public support waned, the media shifted it's "perspective" of reporting. No longer reporting the positive impact our troops have over there, only the negative publicity of very few actions. Abu Ghrab is a fine example of how a select few can affect how the military is viewed as a whole.
The complaints in public opinion regarding loss of life in combat are retarded. If you review history of conflict we have been involved, should be pretty obvious that we have lost fewer lives over the duration of the Iraq war as opposed to even a single month in most other conflicts.

For the most part the media is really not objective with the exception of a few shows/reporters. Since they are "latch key kids" to the advertisers, they are controlled by them and the upper executive agendas as well. This changes content on most shows away from were it could really go. COnsider in your ponderance the left, middle and right of politics and what works for each...
Political agenda...the only major station that claims not to have one is Fox News...Who really knows, as most people in general have an agenda on big issues.
What is really going on is contingent upon what side you are on in the political debate (in the US) and if you are fighting against our brave men and women (insurgent scum).
Military losses are lowest in one years is somewhat of a marketing ploy to say that the "surge" is working... It has in fact been in the headlines. Realistically we are still taking losses... I say that as a supporter of keeping the fight away from our shores... I pray we always can!!!!!!!!!!
Pravda...I wish I could help you there...

In order to get a complete picture, one must read a variety of newspapers, watch a variety of TV news shows and use reason and logic.
I find that foreign news services like the BBC are more truthful and open about the current mess in Iraq. Their press hasn't been muzzled by a dictatorial leader like ours has. Bushie and the Boys have tight control over the media representatives in Iraq. They hold no control over foreign journalists.

our current media are telling us what they wanted us to believe-that usa and its allies are winning the war on terror. the few truthful ones are set aside, not heard, classified as liars, unreliable, 'not on our side' group of dissidents, called as terrorists supporters-allies-members-links-financiers, or even a member of the so called axes of evil!
The current media is heading nowhere. there is already decadence, and there is no more respect left for them to see, except for a very handful of them- the brave ones, which cannot be bought, frightened, threatened, or even lied by some satanic leaders of the world!
the ones who initiated these wars, with LIES said across the world, supported by those whose tongues are as intertwined with each other in lying- well, they are really the axes of evil.
There is no more respect for human suffering, or sovereignty of another country, or lives lost. There is no more dignity in their words, actions, and personality! And they have no shame at all!!!!
They have forgotten that there will come a time when reckoning will certainly come and there will be full payment for even the least of atom of injustice done unto others. Shame on these shenanigans-vipers, snakes, liars, killers, thieves, rapists, murderers, invaders, occupiers....
We have to be patient. Time is still to ripe from GOD's
timetable.

It tells you that the media has an agenda. It wants us to fail, and it is putting out the story with that spin on it.

It tells me the news media has pretty much decided that they will not report any positive news out of Iraq, because conciously or subconciously, they believe Iraq must in failure.
