Depends what you want to know. I find it to be a horrible dry dusty boring town, as did my sister when she lived there and as it is predominantly inhabited by working men she found very little of a social life for her and her kids. The beaches aren't as nice as others on the Pilbara Coast but if you are going there for work there is plenty of that with all the mining etc going on! The price of housing reflects the high wages though and an average place is over $500 a week to rent. My young cousin currently lives there however and seems to enjoy it. It all really depends on the person if you like it or not. There are a few pubs and a brothel in the area. Having only driven up there from my home in Exmouth WA a few times when my husband was working nearby in Dampier I didn't see much of the town but what I saw made me never want to live there...especially after seeing the beaches compared to those at home! But my dad works there quite a bit and loves it!

When god cursed the earth he took it out on Karratha.

I moved there when I was 8 years old with my family for a year and it is so hot there that if you leave an apple in the car it will be roasted in matter of hours. Apart from it being hot. Mine work is huge in that area so money gets pumped into those towns. The lifestyle is relaxed and the sunsets are amazing.

Worth a visit but I wouldn't want to live there. I think there are nicer places in the world!

It is a small mining support town in northwest Western Australia. It is hot and gets tropical cyclones in the wet season. There is excellent fishing off the coast which is good as there is little else to do. There is a pub I believe.

Lots of men coming back and forth from the Oil rigs. It is a quiet, hot dusty place and I wouldn't reccomend it for a social holiday. If you want a real authentic taste of redneck Oz, then it's prob for you!
