I grew up UPC/Baptist. My father was a baptist preacher but my mom took my to a united pentecostal church. So I always struggled between the two. For the majority of my life I've gone to upc, but 2 years ago my mom converted to baptist and were all going to a baptist church. I hate it. I come out of church so mad, because I feel like there all wrong, and there leading people astray. I feel like they look down on me because I believe the way I do. I've struggled with what I believe. But I've come to the conclusion that Acts 2:38 is real, the Holy Ghost is real, and what I felt at the pentecostal church is the Spirit of God. And the baptist are trying to take that away from me. And then I've got my dad, he's so hard headed, he thinks that he can still boss me around and I'm 25, in college, and trying to get away from him. I just don't know what to do. I'm about at the end of my rope or at least that's how I feel. what should I do, and why do women have to look funny in upc?

You know what you were taught in the UPC was right. You know that you felt the presence of God there. Don't let anything separate you from that. You are old enough to make your own religious decisions. In time you could be the light that touches your family.

If you haven't already: find an Apostolic Church close by and follow Acts 2:38. Have a serious heart to heart with God and let him lead you.

My husband is an Apostolic minister feel free to email me anytime.

The Baptist religion is very rigid and judgmental. I was raised Baptist, but I do not believe the way they teach I should. I believe that any church that makes you feel in touch with the Lord is the right one for you. Jesus did not say all Catholics, Baptists or any other sect was chosen, He said those that follow His word (the Bible) ,repent, and worship Him will go to heaven. So since you feel most in touch with Jesus at the Pentecostal Church I would say go there. God gave you the right to choose what is best for you as long as you follow His word.

I'm a Penteocostal and a Bible believing Christian.

95% of the Penteocostal denominations in the world disagree strongly with the UPC and Apostolic Church in the USA. Why? Because those two groups, (which recently merged if you had not heard), are not Biblical in many ways.

Top two links below, won't let the UPC join, yet they have many other Pentecostal member denominations.

They deny the Trinity and are very legalistic particularly about dress codes for women and girls.

UPC girls won't wear blue jeans cause thats a sin, yet I've never met a UPC girl who arrived at her wedding as a virgin.

In fact most had babies before getting married.

Which is what I call majoring in minor issues, like their dress code and minoring in major issues like sex before marriage.

If you want to talk more, let me know.

It is your spritual journey not your father's or the Baptist's. You should never feel bad after leaving your church. If your father is a man of God. Just tell him that you are the one who will answer to God, not him and you chose to go to the upc church. Instead of focusing on differences and disagreements, the church should focus on God and the similiarities.

Just make sure you know Jesus Christ for yourself.

As far as what church to go to;go to a church that believes in being filled with the spirit.

Thus far for me,that has been the Baptist church. You just may have stumbled to a church where the people are not so nice.

Since going to a Pentecostal type of church, I feel there is no going back to denominational ones. I have been to some on visits with friends who invited, me, but it isn't the same. Explain to your family that you are saved, and that Acts is true. Have them study it and ask them if they can disprove it. You are old enough to make your decision. And you might add, that it hasn't made you a sinner.

Didn't I respond to your question yesterday? You have 2 children?

Anyway, GO. There are many of us who have LEFT the church entirely BECAUSE they are leading people astray. Pentecostals have problems too.
We are in the days of 'transition', the end of the Gentile age. So your feelings are normal for this time.
Find a messianic synogogue or a group of believers to fellowship with. Pray and seek, and you will find.

Ask Jesus to fill you with the baptism of power and you will meet the resurrected glorified Christ that will change your experience of sitting on a church pew to "doing" the works of the Lord Jesus. Now it is time for you to receive your anointing as a true king of Christ Jesus! Ask the Elders to pray with you to receive this baptism of power according to the Word of God, in the book of Acts. Praise Him in faith believing and you will receive!! MK

At 25, you can do whatever you wish as long as it isn't breaking the law. If you don't want to obey your parents, get a job and move out.
