Article from Clarian Health Partners in Indiana starting I believe in 2008 (time to get everything under control), overweight people, those who smoke, high cholesterol, high blood pressure. Those who are in the above categories will be charged $30 every two weeks, smokers $5. What do you think about this?

I believe the Simpsons do a great satire on the 'fat policeman'. There is a certain amount of injustice in fining people in the public services, as they already get awful wages for the thankless job they have to do. There are certain people though that do need to be in shape for what they do, because to take care of a town, you have to be in fit physical shape. It's just common sense.
I would say that it's a bad idea and that it could invite a tidal wave of anger from the people they're fining. Can you imagine having to get on scales, get your cholesterol and blood pressure checked?!
In a job that is already high stress, they could have stress related disorders that would exaggerate the things you have mentioned.

If it were to go into affect, it wouldn't last long as part of the Declaration of Independence states very clear "The pursuit of Happiness," and if people wanted to they can claim this about their overweight and smoking habits!! I am personally against both, but people should have the right to kill themselves over the course of 50, 60 years!!

The way it is worded, not a good idea. But, come on, be realistic: people who cause health problems due to neglect should pay for any and all health problems treated due to this neglect. It is imminently unfair for people who use more horsesense to be forced to pay for health care for those who just don't care for themselves.

thats awful! Some people are natuarally big and smokers some of them dont smoke that much!
That is not going to go, everyone isnt going to go for that

I agree, we need to enforce some kind of law, it's not denial of human rights, they need to learn we're keeping them from killing themselves.
