God gave me nothing!!!!!!
I dont believe in God one bit. It's evolution that created everything and the big bang. Scientists can't explain the big bang for definate nor can people explain if God definitely existed. It's a stalemate! So why should people look down on atheist's for believing something different? If I am a person I have the right to believe in what I want if no one else gets harmed? My history teacher always told me, paper never refuses ink! The bible is worshipped, why? Because people believe it's the word of God? I dont care what people believe in. It's people like you juming to conclusions that I am a bad person for not believing in a divine God.
I was baptised and christened and made my confirmation in a very Catholic Ireland! I follow the ten commandments but in reality they are just basic morales that EVERYONE should follow, Christian or not. I dont believe in a divine god but I am a good person. I put other people's welfare above mine, i look out for people, i help people! What difference are my morales from what God expects of me?!
How can I treat the "creator" with disrespect when I dont believe in him? How do Atheist's treat him with disrespect? You tell me that!

"atheist" said in an early post "
"""If God gave us all those "gifts" then why can they all be explained by natural processes? If God is real, why is there no evidence for it?"""
Well that is really interesting.
Say you are playing a computer game. You finish a level and somehow you end-up in the next level.
How did that happen. Was it by magic, or did someone program the game so he wouldn't have to interfere again in the process.
God is the programmer. He made the world. And he interferes all the time in the flow of the world, when you almost have a deadly car accident or when you almost fall off a cliff...
OK, lets say someone has "X" sickness because "A" substance is lacking enormously in his body. And "A" comes from the "B" activity which can be produced normally. Doctors say he has a week to live.
Then, "B" activity increases a lot that the "A" multiplies in the man's body and the "X" sickness starts to fade.
That happens a lot in the world when true believer's prayers are answered. It can be explained by natural process. There was nothing extraordinary found in the man's body but he was subject of a miracle.
He created the world you and I live. So I don't think, that with His infinite wisdom He'll have any trouble to make you believe that you can explain it all by human known "natural process".
If He wanted there to be proof that can be explained by human logic he would have done it.
Then believing wouldn't have meant a thing.
Hope my answer satisfied you,
BTW the original question is meaningless, no question about that.
a believer.

Well, I will answer your question with another...When you say Atheist, do you know who you are addressing? Is it everyone who does not believe in the Christian God, Jehovah? Because, if this is what you believe, you are wrong and it makes the question skewed.
Each person, in my belief, walks in their own plane of reality. There is a Universal Life Energy that (at least as I see) connects us all. All throughout time, people have given form to the energy that sustains us in the forms of Gods, Goddesses, etc. Whether one believes in such an entity or not, it doesn't exactly matter. We are all connected and there is a richness to be found in sharing our realities, our thoughts, our experiences. Unconditional love, as Jehovah is thought to be the God of, would not debase, separate, burn, destroy... Honestly, if you are thinking clearly, the fear of fire, burning flesh, is purely a human condition. A Spirit, which is what we would be when we die, will not burn or feel the pain of fire.
This may or may not really be related, but at the site www.zeitgeistmovie.com, there is an interesting section of this movie that deals with how Sun Gods throughout time, including Horus who outdated Jesus by quite a chunk of time, were born of a virgin, taught at the age of twelve, died, rose after three days, had twelve disciples, etc. You should watch it with an open mind and see for yourself how the story has been told and retold.
Not believing in Jehovah does not mean that I treat "God" like trash. I believe in the sacredness of life, the wonder of the interconnectedness of all Spirit, the love that we all share, and the ability to bring about the highest good for all through leaving a positive influence in this world. Whether I give a name to anything or not does not mean I am unthankful or unworthy of the very air I breathe.

Ok, I'm a Christian and I'm going to give you a very, very harsh answer, not to offend you (though it's probably going to), but because it just needs to be done so you'll understand. I apologize in advance.
This is the stupidest question Christians ask and the answer is as obvious as the nose on your face, and that's why it's such an incredibly stupid question. They DO NOT believe in Him!! They just don't. They don't believe they get anything at all from Him, that they will have to give an account of themselves to Him, or that He even exists at all. Since all this is true, what difference does it make how they treat Him or talk about Him? Have you ever spoken ill of the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus? Did you feel any guilt in doing so? Same thing. They don't believe! Get over it! Ask something else, for crying out loud!!! Get it through your head that they don't believe and don't want to, then you can start thinking of ways to minister to them!
Sorry, my friend, but you really do need to understand this.

Typically I don't engage in this type of debate, but ... just in case you forgot:
You don't need to terraform many planets. Most, about 99%+ are probably completely unsuitable for our life. Too much of the wrong type of radiation, lack of atmospheres, too much or too little gravity, too many other objects in orbit, and not to mention the thousands/million of years it will take to get there. Yep, terraforming is not going to be an option ... at all.
Food and water are not "given" to you by some higher being. They are harvested by hard working people, packaged, shipped, and sold at the local supermarket. You could try to feed those starving children in Afrika they keep showing on those infomertials late at night with "His" food, if you so choose to, however.
Air comes from well-understood biospheric processes. If you were in space, air would not "just" appear. You would have to carry a supply of it with you. Air quality and the gas mix has changed over time, and is, in fact, still changing as we speak.
Some bodies are not so nice and symmetrical. Just ask anyone that has ever had a miscarriage, mothers who took contagen, or anyone born with a deformity.
And obviously, you must be bored right now to even present this type of question. Maybe you need a pet hamster - which also is grown by others, shipped and "packaged", and sold in a petstore. You could try your local church, but I suspect they are probably fresh out of them.

You list all of the things that you say God has given us, but do you see how this wouldn't mean anything to someone who thinks that you're wrong, and that these things came from somewhere else and God doesn't exist? Atheists don't hate or disrespect God, they just don't think that he's real. If I said that unicorn magic was responsible for the last several good things that have happened in your life, would that mean that you hate and disrespect unicorns if you tell me that I'm wrong, because unicorns don't exist? Of course not. It just means that you don't believe that they exist.

Even if there WAS a God...who says I treat him like trash?
I live a good life, I'm a good person, a faithful wife, a loving mother, a devoted daughter, sister, and friend. I don't smoke, drink, or use drugs, I've never stolen anything or killed anybody. I contribute to charity and I do volunteer work. I do not believe that there is a God, but IF there WAS, I don't think he would feel that I treat him or his creation like trash.

I'm Christian, but im gonna stand up for these Atheists.
I dont belive that most of them, the real atheists acctually 'hate' God, per se. They just cant find it possible to belive that some kind of all powerful higher power exists that could create all of this, yet still let tragedies happen. They just arent convinced.
Think of them as the children at the magic show who dont belive it is real, while all the other children have their own belifes on how the showman's magic works.

The fact that you credit your invisible friend for these things, does not mean I am obligated to praise him. If anything, the Bible shows him to be quite a despicable character.
Futhermore, as others have pointed out, there is absolutely NO valid reason why for these things we should credit "God", the deity of the Abrahamic religions, and not one of the other countless deities from other religions. Or none, for that matter.

I think we are pointing fingers here. There are a whole lot of Christians that treat God like trash. They may not be calling names....but they may just not be spending time with Him. If some atheist does want to know about God I am sure they will ask. All of what you said is so right....just don't point fingers.
