I love country, but my future husband doesn't. So that means I can't use Rascal Flatts or Big and Rich, which I really wanted to use. He's more into the lesser known songs, and definitely not country.

Any suggestions? We're cutting it close to the wedding, so any help would be appreciated!

I thought I'd list some of the artists we mutually like - John Legend, Amos Lee, Ben Harper, John Mayer, etc. I'm hoping someone will know a song by one of these guys, or some like it?

There's a song called "Hello" by Damien Horne, he's an artist with the MuzikMafia, there are a few artist there that aren't well known and aren't country. Check it out.

Here are some sites that may help you decide. Although Rascal Flatts has gone more mainstream and is played on mix stations etc, you may be able to talk him into one of those songs just don't say it's country. Or choosing a classic such as At Last - Etta James or Always - Frank Sinatra may be a good compromise.

Good luck!

We like similar music to what you have listed above and don't really want to have all the classic songs that are played at every single wedding. Here are some from our playlist (hopeful playlist that is!):

Love Song - 311
Just the Way You Are - Billy Joel
Ice Cream - Sarah McLachlan
Can't Take my Eyes off of You - Lauryn Hill
Love of a Lifetime - Firehouse
The Beauty of Who You Are - Marc Broussard
Thank You - Bon Jovi
The Luckiest - Ben Folds

try picking a song that has meaning to you as a couple - the song on the radio when you first kissed, the first song you danced to at prom, or a song that has lyrics specific to your situation. my husband and I danced to "lovers in a dangerous time" because he went to Iraq when we were first dating.

other than that, you can always go for a big band/standard song - frank sinatra, dean martin, and other people from that era have some beautiful songs perfect for a first dance.

I just got married we both couldn't agree on anything. We ended up picking a classic - "Can't help falling in love with you" by Elvis Prestley....it's an oldie but a goodie if you listen to the words and it isn't too long either to dance too.

Unchained Melody by the Riteous Brothers is always a good one, or At Last by Etta James.

I just got married last year and we couldn't agree on anything. We were taking ballroom lessons and had picked "Can't help falling in love" by Elvis. One day on our way to dance class we popped in a cd a friend of ours made and FOUND THE SONG WE BOTH AGREED ON - "Dance me to the end of love" by Madeleine Peyroux - its beautiful and different.

I've always liked the song "Lady" by Kenny Rogers, and it's beautiful if you listen to the words. It's one of the songs that is special to me and my boyfriend and if we get married someday I think I want that to be our song. :) Good luck on choosing a song and congrats on your upcoming wedding.

Lady, I'm your knight in shining armor and I love you
You have made me what I am and I am yours
My love, there's so many ways I want to say I love you
Let me hold you in my arms forever more

You have gone and made me such a fool
I'm so lost in your love
And oh, we belong together
Won't you believe in my song?

Lady, for so many years I thought I'd never find you
You have come into my life and made me whole
Forever let me wake to see you each and every morning
Let me hear you whisper softly in my ear

In my eyes I see no one else but you
There's no other love like our love
And yes, oh yes, I'll always want you near me
I've waited for you for so long

Lady, your love's the only love I need
And beside me is where I want you to be
'cause, my love, there's somethin' I want you to know
You're the love of my life, you're my lady!

If he has more of eclectic music taste, try Nightwish, I love country and my husband loves rock and we both love Nightwish. They are Sweedish I believe, but they have some beautiful ballods that you may like. Hope it helps. Good luck and Congratulations !
