Reading the bible literally it would be a sin, as would be eating at McDonalds, smoking and getting divorced. There seems to be some selective interpretation going on.

When You have a question about ;Is it a Sin ,more than likely
it is; I will say this it is a Sin for Me.Why? God in His Word says we are to earn our living,by sweat of brow;To desire something that someone else has (money) would be a Sin.

Well, lottery is a form of gambling. Gambling is wagering money on something and not knowing whether you will gain or lose money from the situation. Since God has given us money, we need to be good stewards of the money God has given us (along with everything else he's given us). I personally think that the lottery can be taking money from people who need the money, but that's my own interpretation.

The way I look at it, if it's OK to play the stock market (you are taking a gamble with stocks), it's OK to play the lottery.
Where I live, a sizable percentage of the of the lottery profits go to public school systems, to me that's a good thing.

Gambling is a sin, yes.

Even if it wasn't a sin, I still wouldn't do it. I think it's wrong that for you to win money---thousands of other people have to lose their hard earned money.

It would depend upon your particular denomination. My own church has no prohibitions against it, but a number of other churches do.
