two weeks ago i went to Wisconsin to go on a camping trip for two weeks. Some of my familialy memebers were wachitng the house and our pets. I have a girl cat that I keep up stairs and my uncle that lives in the basment has a boy cat. We have been keeping them away from eachother for obvius reasons. My cat rikku was fine for about a week after i left. but then one the second week she started acting weird like crying all the time really loud and then when my famlie would feed her she wouldn't want them to go. Sometimes she would run out of the romm when they wront looking ans run to the basment door. One of my younger cousins didnt' know that the two cat weren't supposed to be together and let hem in the basement for the whole night. both cats are getting to be 5 mounths old now and when my aunt and uncle when down into the basement the kitties were doing the naughty. since then rikku has been hiding in random places and wanting my attshoins all the time. should i be worried.

The cat is old enough to have kittens and has been mated - 95% certain she's pregnant!

The weird behaviour was her being in season. When this happens, the cats will stop at nothing to get together and mate, so this was inevitable really.

You can still get her spayed, up until about a month into the pregnancy (mid-term). I strongly advise you do this - please get both cats neutered for the sake of their health (prevents cancers and pyometra) and so you don't add to the overpopulation of cats.

EDIT: To Rocker, I reiterate they can certainly get pregnant at 5 months of age, this is why we like to neuter them at this time. 4 month old cats can become pregnant.

at 5 months old that is cutting it close. at only 2 weeks you won't be able to really tell. My cat just had kittens 3 weeks ago. She was 6 months so she wasn't fixed yet and she ran outside when i let the dogs out. I guessed she was pregnant but i wasn't sure until about 4-5 weeks. she really started to get bigger and her belly and nipples swelled. I made her a nice bad at about the 7 week point. that was pointless b/c she just hid and had them under the bed.

she'll find a place to have them unless you lock her up somewhere. Once she had them she tried to hide them in the closet so i put her in the spare bedroom away from the dogs.

she is probly pregnant

i just asked my vet that very same question, he told me that they ususally have to be 6-7 months old but that doesnt mean that they couldnt get a female prego at like 5. its like a 80%-20% chance. 80% meaning cant. hope this helps
