I have been tattooing eyeliner on people since 1991. My clients don't leave my studio looking anything much other than like they may have been crying.
It is improper aftercare to grease up the tattoo area around the eyes. Any aftercare application at all must be very sparse.
You do need to go to a pro for this for sure - a lot of eyeliner tattooing is going on in places like nail shops, etc., and that is not the best environment at all. Check portfolios for very modest work even if you want something stronger.
It is great on the eyes - no more stretching the lid to apply the makeup or having it smear, etc.
By the way - you can't be allergic to something you have never been exposed to before so allergy testing is relatively worthless. Pigment allergies can occur down the road but are very rare.
Other side effects: There is a risk of infection as with any kind of tattooing. If pigment gets stuck in the eye (rare) there is sometimes a potential for a scratched cornea if you rub it.
Go here to find a professional: http://www.spcp.org to duscuss the tattooing further.

My mom got her eyeliner/eyelids done and i was really small so i had to guide her. It is a little puffy for a few days, but in some places they actually apply anesthetic cream or injection before the tattoo so it hurts less. If you do get them, wear sunglasses for a few days, and they will get puffy too but you can still see.

My friend had hers done & the side effects were swelling, redness & puffy eye area. She had a greasy looking oinment all over them, but she could see. She came over to show me. It wasn't bad enough to where she needed pain meds. After a week, her eyes looked great! If you can, do dark brown or brown/black, b/c she did black & it's been a year & turned grey/blue. She now has to go over it w/ eyeliner every day.

What if the eye lid sagged? Would the tattoo look bad?

just sure u go to someone who is licensed and has been doing it for a long time, the results can be awful if they are not trained, ask to see a portfolio of their work, and make sure they test to see if u are allergic to the dye
