Having insurance doesn't relieve you of your personal responsibility. Something along the line of "Do the crime. Do the time." You broke the law. Not when you hit the other car, but when you left? Now stand up. Take your medicine. And learn from it.
I understand that you were initially frightened, but one of you (you or your husband) should have had the presence of mind to know that it's worse to run than face up.

Well, this is your first lesson on talking to American police then. Congratulations! By the way, you shouldn't have said anything without a lawyer present. Handing them the note was nice, but that is something you give your lawyer, not the police.
If you can't afford a lawyer, you will have one assigned to your case. This will be an overworked fellow, usually wanting to take the fastest way possible through the court system. I highly suggest that you hire one yourselves.
In cases like this, money is the issue. If you have it, you can afford a better lawyer and higher fines, and the charges will be reduced. It's sad but true. A good lawyer can work wonders with a little money to pay the right people. If you don't have money, chances are that you will go on probation. This isn't a huge infraction, so don't worry about the punishment. You won't do jail time.
Good luck.

You can hire a lawyer if you want. In your case, it may not be a bad idea. You have admitted that you did the damage and did leave the scene of an accident. I doubt if the court will do anything more than fine you for the offense and you will have to have the insurance company pay the damage. Also, the insurance company may cancel your insurance for the offense. Good luck with the outcome.

All drivers should know that you cannot leave the scene of an accident...it's on the test you take to get a drivers license. Your husband is not the responsible party of an accident that you did. He is responsible to report you if you had an accident and he is aware of it though.
You will go to court and you will be charged with leaving the scene/hit and run...and license can be suspended. You will probably have to take a drivers course to learn how to drive and all the rules of the road so that you don't do this again. If coming to America...we have rules to protect each and every person who is here. We enforce those rules...and if you don't know them...you will learn them.
Step up to the plate. You left the scene of an accident. There is punishment. It's to remind you not to do the same thing twice.
We believe if you do the crime...there is a price to pay. This is America. The rules are there to protect you and others.

Well if it was a hit and run your husband needs to take responsibility for his mistake. Instead of trying to weasel out of what he's done he should just plead guilty and get this over with. He will just end up wasting every ones time if he doesn't. I understand that you have other problems, but who evers property was damaged probably does to. I really don't feel bad for anyone that hits and runs, because that is so selfish!!! Good luck to you, but don't spend money on a lawyer, because the judge will make you pay.

If you didn't stop, and attempt to find the owner of the vehicle you hit, and call the police for a report, you are indeed guilty of hit and run.
Appear in court on the proper date, explain to the judge what you have told us. It probably won't make much difference, but at least he will know there was no criminal intent on your part. You will probably have a fine to pay and some points against your license as a result of this.

I am not able to give you anything concrete however if repairs are made and it is a first offense chances are you will get fined and b put on supervision. i don't think hit and run is more then a misdemeanor. So like i said it shouldn't be horrible just make sure you don't get into trouble until the supervision is done. Good luck and remember it's always better to fess up when you mess up.

No you isn't charged with valuable and run. you quite could attempt to flee and dodge, to be charged with valuable and run. considering the fact that counsel replaced into exchanged valuable and run won't be able to be claimed. i might point out some thing on your group chief/squad chief and notice what they think of. some contraptions/businesses desire to grasp each thing, others play it a touch looser and are not going to supply a single **** approximately this. it quite is quite no longer a extensive deal, injuries happen continuously.

I don't understand this. You were parking your car and hit another vehicle, and your husband was ticketed for not calling the police? If you left the scene of the accident, then it's hit and run. Sorry.

Definately get a lawyer. He can get you off with as little as possible. I would think he can at least get your husband off.
Do not go to court without a lawyer.
