I have very sensitive pierced ears as even the earrings for "sensitive ears" really make me itch..even if I clean them with some rubbing alcohol. Is there anything that I can put on the earrings so that I can wear them and not itch like mad a matter of minutes later? Would using some hydrocortizone cream on the earring post be okay?

I also have sensitive ears. I have not been able to wear earrings for 10 years. I usually get the magnetic earrings, however when I was at Claire's they introduced me to some plastic tubes that go on the post of the earring. For the first time in 10 years I can wear earrings and I don't have the itching or the knots afterward. I did find a web site that carries them along with a liquid that you can put on the earrings that is supposed to do the same thing as the little plastic tubes. I am going to try the liquid and see if that works since it would be cheaper in the long run than having to buy a whole bunch of the tubes. I have included the web site addresses. Hope this helps.

DO NOT put hydrocortizone cream, it's not meant for that at all. You're going to have to get gold of white gold earings, the cheaper ones run at $15 of so. Anything that's not 100% gold with irritate you.

Since you typed "very sensitive ears" here are some tried methods:-
My friends hv. sensitive ears too
- some switched to pure silver/gold/plastic
- some cut off eating eggs, seafood & etc.
- some put some antiseptic cream on their ears before putting on cleaned sterile earrings
- try not to touch your ears too much.

As for me, i've sensitive ears too. I just stop wearing them anymore coz. seeing an injured/or rashes/bleeding on ears kinda turns me off. Some of my guy friends feels the same way too.

I have seen plastic covers to put over the posts. Dermadoctor.com has some jewelry that is for people with sensitive skin and nickel allergies.

Yeah, I'm not sure other than buying real silver. That SHOULD help, if it doesn't then I don't think there's much you can do. Isn't silver the best you can get? I wasn't much help, I'm sorry. Heh.
