There is Something, that is ture. But there is also nothing. The universe as created by god is balanced by opposites. Light with dark, matter with anti-matter, strong force with weak force, Everything and Nothing. In many places of the universe, there are masses of, well, mass, rotating affecting each other and all others throughout the universe, but in many parts, there are also vasts spaces of nothing. Just as light could not exist without darkness, Everything, the something of the universe, Is balanced by Nothing, and not in the literal sense. Nothing, as in presence is balanced by absense. If either Nothing or Everything vanished, so would it other, and then there Wouldnt Be.

This is a good question & is one I do not know the answer to .

I always come up with 'there just is'. Not a great answer.

It does not make me think that any kind of god is the answer though. So many people think that if there is no rational answer then god is the obvious solution...There is no reason for it to work this way. (I am not suggesting you said this....it just seems to be the next step for many people). To be honest that would just lead me to ask 'why is there a god?'

Because humans can't create something if there isn't nothing. There has to be a higher power than we are to create something out of nothing.

Because if there was nothing, we would be unable to ask the question; in a world of nothing nobody asks anything, and in a world of something, one can ask the question.

There is no answer to that question and yet it is the only one we'd like to know the answer to.

One thing is for sure, god is not an answer to it since it just begs the question.
