Aham Brahmasmi - I am my own master...I just had to realise this a few years back...though I'm still not fully aware of my own capabilities. Both the shishya/pupil & the guru/master are within myself. I just need to make both of them interact more & more to be able to achieve anything worthwhile.
Searching for a guru or master in today's world is a futile exercise; since all are busy minting moolah. I'm sharing just what I believe in - God has created us 100% perfect & capable spiritually. We do not need any external guru to show us the way, if we take full control of our lives. With wisdom & a certain kind of mindset One can learn a great deal of things from anybody or anything in this world. Sage Dattatreya had 24 gurus. Remember the story of a King who was losing a battle & learnt the lesson of Perseverance (Try again until you succeed) from a small seemingly worthless spider trying to spin it's web. It's our attitude that determines everything we do.

"God" is my Master.
My Teacher or Guru is known as the Qutbiyyat.
The Qutbiyyat found me, in this life, some 30 years ago.
What's so different about them must be researched.

Shirdi Saibaba. When I was in utter frustration and despair, spending sleepless nights, a devotee of Baba given me a Talisman and advised me to tie it to my waist thread on Thursday morning. I don not know much about Sri.Saibaba at that time. I believe in god,but not miracles.Any how, I accepted his Talisman and fallowed his advise. To my great surprise, on that night, Sadguru Sri Shirdi Saibaba appeared in my dream in human form and asked me to fallow him. As I fallowed him, he had taken me to a cool shade under green wood trees, where a number of devotees waiting for him. He asked me to wait for a while, so that he can Cook food for waiting devotees and assured me that he will guide me further after satiating their hunger. I woke up to find it was a dream, but it appeared as if it was real. I felt a sort of light heartiness and agony, which is haunting me since long vanished. It was happened in 1985. Till to date I am praying BABA as my guru. I believe, guru is a link between devine and human. We can not directly find god. If we keep trust on guru, he will guide us to a safer path. True guru is an embodiment of Brahma,Vishnu and Shiva. But, we have to cling to him in times of odds and evens.

Joss Whedon is my master now.
I've never met him though.
Joss gained the mantle after George Lucas screwed up his own universe with Yippees and Jar Jar.
