My cat belches and farts (yes, out loud) and I wonder if this is normal for cats or has he just been around a house full of teenagers too long? He's almost 11 years old and is a fixed domestic shorthair, ginger-colored. He answers to Chester, Cheddie, Baby, or anything else anyone calls him.

Chester is an indoor cat (only taken outside on a leash) and is on a urinary tract diet. No bad food issues with him.

2 cats, one fluffs (cat fart), the other burps. The fluffer can clear a room in seconds! She's on the best diet, very healthy, but also apparently very flatulent. Perfectly normal if their food is a healthy brand.

Well when we took in (to our home) our kitten Diago, who had been a stray we felt bad for, La La La, long story, anyway, he had really bad gas, we took him to the vet and the vet said it was from the food he'd been eating off the street, out of garbage cans, etc. So if your cat is an outdoor cat maybe he has been eating something from outside that isn't sitting with his stomache well. If he isn't an outdoor cat it may be that someone is giving him milk or people food, which also doesn't sit well with any cat, if not it may just be an ingrediant in the catfood, or the type of catfood you feed him. If you feed him all softfood that could be the problem as well, cats need a blance of hardfood and soft food, or just hardfood. If none of that fit well, it may just be a stage, maybe he'll get over it, maybe he won't. Hope I helped some ! :)

Sometimes Im laying in bed alone with my cat and all the sudden there is a funky smell in the air and my cat starts to pur :P I know, gross. But, hey, you asked. So I dont know if it is a common thing to happen. It rarely does happen to my cat. But that is odd that your cat belches. I have never heard of that before!

It's apparently normal for Chester. Our adult cats don't usually do this, but often when they were kittens they would go through a few flatulent months as their little tummies matured. Also, one of our senior cats used to do it.

I think this is normal. Seriously some cats are different, but ive heard of cats that are like this. My cat doesnt really do those things, except maybe sometimes something like a wheeze. Shes only done once outloud (infront of me) and its been really loud. lol im not even kidding. I think it was cus of how she had ate.

It sounds like his food. Have you considered changing it to one of the varieties for mature cats?

my kitten has absolutely the most noxious farts ever. he uses them as a defensive tactic almost. Whenever hes playing and we try and pick him up, he lets one rip. It works - we put him right back down!
