Just because a lot of people in your family have had cancer, doesn't mean you will get it.
Not all cancers are genetically related.
I have a simmillar group of cancers in my own family, and we have been tested and found to carry the gene for Breast cancer. However, out of the 6 siblings in my generation, only 1 has had a genetically related cancer although 3 of us have had non-genetically related cancers!
Because we were all aware of cancer, we had regular check ups and caught it early and have all been sucessfully treated.
Sometimes being aware of a problem makes it easier to protect yourself.
With drinking, it is up to you to control it so it will not become a problem. Drinking excessivly can also increase your risk of cancer, so just keep it under control!

You are gentically prone to both diseases, not much you can do about that. Get regular check ups from a dr. who is aware of you family history.
As for you becoming an alcoholic you may be one now but just haven't had a drink. Alcoholism is a thinking problem, the drinking aspect of alcoholism is a symptom.
If an alcoholic never has a drink he still has a problem with the way his brains work. Alcoholics do not think like other people even when not drinking.
With just one drink the disease is set in motion and progresses rapidly, more so in women and girls than in men, studies have found.
If I were you I'd avoid drinking all together, why take the chance. Had someone told me at sixteen that to drink would cause years of heartache and misery, lost relationships, friendships and jobs I may never have taken that first drink. I wish I knew then what I know now.

You are more genetically proned for both problems, but moderation of drinking "does not an alcholic make." As for the cancer question: Talk to your doctor regarding the specifics on this. The instructions regarding prevention are vast. Live life and follow anything, especially as it regards cancer, that your doctor recommends. Don't worry...Be happy!

Dont smoke, drinking doesn't help either, eat right... just take care of yourself and go to the doctor when you find something suspicious. You can't do anything about your genes.
Some university was actually gonna do a study on my mom's family, because apparently it's one of the most cancerous families in the USA. Think how I feel. I smoke, drink and do drugs too.
Yeah, I'm going to die of cancer. But who wants to get old?

My doctor said if a person lives long enough, that person will get cancer. It is not a big deal unless you get it at a young age or disfigures you (like face cancer) and makes your life a living hell. As to drinking, why plan for it? Avoid booze, smoking, drugs and eat healthy and see your doctor.

Antioxidants help protect against cancer, so eat a lot of fruits and vegatables. Blueberries have the highest amount of antioxidants of any fruits. Do not smoke, and honestly, I don't blame you for wanting to drink. A lot of people do it at 21 with friends, but please do it in moderation.
