That statement about death being compared to sleep has it wrong, what that is speaking about is the body.
When a person dies their spirit-man lives on, either in the presence of Jesus or in the presence of the devil and his demons.
Everyone will be fully aware of everything that is going on around them.
People before have died for a few minutes and saw themselves raising out of the body. They were fully aware of what was going on before they re-entered the body.

You will not realise at first that you are no longer in the body. You do not die - you just change. Then you will remember who you are and where you came from and what you have been doing here. We came from The Spirit and we return to The Spirit.

Yes. The Bible says it is for man once to die, then judgment. So when we end up in eternity, we will know.

Yes. Things will be different in the afterlife, but knowledge of our life here will be included with the knowledge we will have there.

Absolutely. Its remembering that we were yesterday ,we are today, and will be tomorrow that gives life its continuity and makes it eternal.
