I was just curious...do churches distribute a periodic report detaling how they use tithes/contributions? For example, do church members get a quarterly spreadsheet showing that $200 was used to repair the PA system, and so on?

death from above: I don't particularly care, and I wasn't trying to imply anything. I just figured anyone who was giving their money to the church would want to know what was being done with it...and I wanted to know if Churches told them. Nothing more, nothing less. As you pointed out, I don't go to church, which is exactly why I asked the question.

Some do, but most do not. They are not required to by law.

My sect has repeatedly states what each of the funds (tithing, fast offerings, humanitarian funds, perpetual education fund, etc) is for, but currently not how much money was spent on each cause. Once a year my sect performs an audit then reports the results to the Church membership.

For tax purposes, each member who makes a contribution received a formal printout saying how much was tax deductible.

Yup. We have a quarterly business meeting where we have a look at the budget & expenditures, & vote on future spending & propositions that involve the congregation. This is in the SBC, I don't know about other denominations.

I can only speak for the churches I've attended, but in the Southern Baptist Convention (in which I was raised and no longer belong to) they have monthly business meetings in which they do, in fact, show everything that was done with the tithes and offerings that were taken in and vote on what to do with them in the future.

no but they will usually disclose that to everyone .. its obvious anyway .. some churches u see the pastor lives ok and the building is taken care of and u hear about who gets helped .. other churches the pastor pulls up in a mercedes limo .. still .. its obvious where the money gets spent for the most part ..

Most Churches have some type of oversight committee, and are more than willing to make information available to it's congregants.

Some churches, do. I believe most have an open book policy. I think if they are a "not-for profit" organization, that they must show the books.

Mine reports, yes. Monthly reports, yearly reports.

Are you dreaming? What are you smoking.

When my mother was young, one autumn her Catholic church had a collection to repair the old heating system. Well, the parishioners froze their A**es off all winter while the priest was in Palm Beach recovering from the flu ! true !

Mine does. And Members get to vote on where the money goes.

a more interesting question is why do you care, since you do not go to church ?

I am sick and tired of media sponges such as Endora spewing hate and misinformation "pedophilic priests"?
you mean all of them, every single one ? you interviewed every single one ? you are a sorry, angry little being with no kindness and compassion in your heart... and a small mind and a smaller heart...
You have statistically 1000 times more chance to be abused by family friends and relatives than priests, but your narrow mind and hate prevent you from acknowledging it is true...
hate blinds...
