when i moved from my home into my husbands, i turned int he tv (which he already had) and internet modum, i taped a neon index card with my name on it. i gave it to the rep when they left and they said that if anything happened, the serial # on the back would let them to who's account it belonged. i was concerned because one was under my name and the other wasn't.

now they are telling me and my friend that they don't show a record of either being turned in and asked if we had a receipt. none was ever offered, never told me to make sure i got one.... just thought i was giving the stuff back to the company. if they had told me to do that, i would have.

any ideas on how to proceed?

Can you go back and spot the person you gave it to? If so get his/her name but don't talk.

Then go back home and write them a letter which says basically.

1) On ... (date).. I brought the unit into your store at ..(address) (was anyone with you.. include this too)
2) I gave the (..whatever) to (name).
3) She did not give me a receipt nor was I aware that one was supposed to be given. They told me that (summarize their comments)
4) Bottom line .. Your employee accepted the modem . You have it somewhere. Its not my problem if your employees do not provide receipts or follow your rules. (but say it nicely)

that should do it.

.. good luck

I not sure how to help , but one time I had comcast come try and fix something wrong with my cable box . I live in sw florida so the people that work for comcast are usually cuban or peurto rican , so any ways the dude tried to take my dvr and exchange it for an old banged up box , this was also at the time when there were not dvr's , the whole county was out of them . Comcast is terrible , just get direct tv and find a good cable modem company

We constantly have problems with Comcast, although it's more of running service as opposed to customer service.

I suggest you get in touch with the head of cable and internet operations for your area, an try and resolve it there. Slowly work your way up the chain; civility will win out 99 times out of 100 here.

If you're still not satisfied with the results of this, contact your local Better Business Bureau, and they'll investigate. After that, the problem usually goes away quickly.

If that doesn't work, go to your state's attorney general, who is responsible for all consumer advocacy within your state.

Finally, as a last resort, get it to the FTC. It shouldn't have to go this far, but you'd be surprised as to how quickly they deal with issues like this.

Hope it helped. :)

If by ripped off you mean being charged too much for service, your service not operating correctly, your bill being more than anticipated or being billed for charges you didn't make, then yes...everyone has been.

They did the same thing to me.

Get rid of comcast and get Direct TV or DISH, which are equally annoying.
