Yeah, i have windows movie maker and it keeps giving me that "ffdshow codec" everytime i try to put music in the timeline i dont know why. but i need help. If you know how to fix it please tell me or if you know of a preferably free program as a replacement.

Windows Movie Maker doesn't like certain codecs. There is a full-k-lite codec pack 3.29 you can download and install and it usually makes all problems go away! I've used windows movie maker with it installed and it works fine. You can download and install it here http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm. Additionally, you can check out compatibilities and make sure there are filters that are not being used. Go to Tools>Options then click on compatibility tab and review any filters and see if seem to be any that aren't working with windows movie maker. If you see any, uncheck them.

The problem is that Microsoft does not want you to use any software but theirs.
XP may not support Firefox.
Go to XP's support site and punch in codecs.
If the codec is available it should be there,if not try the Firefox
site for the codec you need for XP.
If It is not available you will have to use the Windows Movie Maker.
This is one reason I hate Microsoft,they only write code for their programs into the operating system.
