As the company bookkeeper reviewing delinquent accounts receivable, you find that a relative of yours has not paid his account amounts of $550. You know that he has been experiencing financial difficulties, and so you set his account aside and do not include it with the other past due accounts sent to a credit collection agency. A job is just a job.. Your family? Thats forever man. I would set it aside, and It would'nt bother me if a coworker did the same for their family. I would'nt even give it a second thought. F*** what the rest of the moral police say here.

unless you own the company, someone will find out and if you are the only person who reviews the delinquent accounts and pulls them to send to a collection agency then I am sure you will have some explaining to do.

Seems improper. The bookkeeper should tell their supervisor about the situation and not be involved in that particular decision.

You are putting your job on the line. You are also showing favoritism here as well.
