Mary was fooling around and Joseph was too stupid to realize it.

Seems that way. To those that say she was wed, that is not really true. As both parents were supposedly jewish they followed the laws of the jews. In a jewish marriage there are 2 parts. The second part is the requirement to live together as man and wife. This hadn't happened yet as evidenced from the verse in mathew that was previosly quoted. After the first part of marriage she is considered his wife and is therefore forbidden to have relations with other men. So yes if she did, the kid would be considered illegitimate.

Matthew 1:24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

The bible calls Mary the wife of Joseph before Jesus was born.

no, Jesus wasn't illegitimate. His Father was GOD. HE was conceived through the Holy Spirit who came to Mary because Her life was without sin.

I don't think so. Joseph and Mary were already wed. He was legitimate.

Not illegitimate, as he was born with 2 parents. And it was not really rape because god was not convicted in a court of his peers.
